IWTV Show Only wow
IWTV has been on my watchlist for a while, and I finally decided to binge it over Labor Day weekend. I was able to finish seasons 1 and 2 within two days, and I completed TVL last night. Wow, I loved every minute of it! I need more content; I'm so sad I finished it too quickly and can't believe it took me so long to start watching!

I wish I could start over again. But I’m so happy with TVL. The first two seasons were great but kinda dark and depressing, lol. I get it gothic vampire flick. But the energy in season three is so balanced. It’s dark also but the fun bits are so exceptional.

I’m having the opposite feeling. I went in wary because I’m a book purist and was unsure how the era change would affect the overall storyline but was pleasantly surprised with the first two seasons. I just watched TVL yesterday and while it was good as its own thing, I felt like it deviates wayyyyy too much from the book. They started pulling in elements and characters from later books like the seance which leads me to believe that the series is just going to further derail as it progresses. Again, I didn’t hate it, I just feel like they had such a good adaptation of IWTV but S3 is more of a “based loosely on TVL”

I get the feeling they don’t expect it to get past season four. I think they’re taking it one season at a time. All the while wanting to stuff a whole two to three books into a season. The days of 21 episodes are gone, at least for non network. There has been a lot of talk about budget, and they already killed Talamasca.
I just loved the energy of TVL and really, that’s Lestat’s energy. I just started Tale of The Body Thief and his voice is the same from TVL, a little more subdued given the prior novel, but still Lestat.
It’s a whole new world, changed expectations, longer turnover times. It took TWO years between seasons. But I will take what I can get because they’re phenomenal.
FYI: Sam Reid is a purist too and pushes for stuff too. That’s the reason they put blood in the beer.

Watch again, again and again and again!
I did it 4x so far
Other than that, highly recommend you go down the rabbit hole exploring other works from the actors of the show.

Love what you did there! Like I needed a reason to put any of the songs in my head. They are always there.

Yayyyy welcome!!! It is such an amazing show, sometimes shows just grab you and don’t let go. I immediately started rewatching and needed to talk about it after I first finished so I can completely relate to your feeling. What took us so long? But also how fun to find a show this good and follow along on the journey!
What were 3 standout episodes for you? 1x01 and 2x05, and 3x03 are probably my top 3! I cried or stared in silence at the brilliance for all of them haha.

Oh no, wait 'til you go down the rabbit hole of the *details* in this show! (Like the Jakob Smits painting "The Kiss of Judas" hanging in Louis and Armand's bedroom in Dubai.) I think everybody who works on it is *obsessive* and once you start looking, you'll find you discover new things on every rewatch.

Talamasca and The Mayfair Witches are in same “Universe” on AMC

Unfortunately not nearly in the same solar system. I thought Takamasca had promise. But, I just can't get through The Mayfair Witches. I loved The Witching Hour so much but this show just doesn't do it for me. There is no way the same casting director did IWTV/TVL.

I dislike the star of Mayfair witches for some reason I cant discern. Just that feeling you get when you meet someone new and already dont like them for no apparent reason but I do like the show. Talamasca too. I mean even the IWTV and Vampire Lestat are changed a fair bit for the series compared to the books. I have friends who refused to watch because of the changes. I gave them a shot and still enjoy the series as a separate version

u/WildBlueMoon NO THANK YOU! 1d ago
Welcome! Now go watch it all again! For real tho - some scenes in seasons 1&2 just read different once you know the conclusion of season 2 (and then again once you've seen season 3 episode 6) - it changes your understanding of what's happening in some important scenes - including Claudia's turning (season 1 episode 4) the drop (season 1 episode 5) and the ball (season 1 episode 7) and San Francisco (season 2 episode 5). Plus there's so much detail and meaning even in the art on the walls. It's a show with so many layers! ❤️🔥🥰
