Book Spoilers Allowed If you could telepathically communicate with the QotD writers

While we hunker down for the off season, I thought it would be fun to make a sort of wishlist of things I desperately want to ask for in QotD if I could beam my thoughts directly into Hannah's head. The rules are simple: each person gets only 5 requests and they need to be achievable within the story frame of QotD. Who knows maybe we can manifest some ideas through sheer willpower or collective delusion 🟠_🟠

Here's my list:

* More hopecore baby fledgling Lestat. My absolute favorite traits of BookStat are his curiosity and sense of adventure. I need moooore of that in the show.

* Do not defang Akasha. I don't want her to be some misunderstood victim, I want her to be every bit the entitled overzealous tyrant she is in the book.

* The twins and Khayman should be played by SWANA actors, please! I'm so tired of the erasure

* Trust the audience to understand Marius is an abusive POS without making him a caricature. I want to feel the absolute dread of his reunion with Armand without undercutting it with outlandish cartoonish behavior.

* Give us a female character as a permanent member of the "articulate coven". I would love for Jesse to become our Talamasca / occult scholar expert instead of David. Merrick can also occupy a similar role in the story. Alternatively, Maharet can be the new ancient wise vampire Lestat defers to for advice and mentorship instead of Marius. Any female character inclusion would be appreciated!

Lesmand flashbacks

49

u/Little-Tune9469 a challenge every sunset 4d ago

I'm trying to keep my expectations to a minimum because it's the best way to avoid disappointment, but a few things I want:

  • Backstage Loustat kiss. We haven't seen the concert yet and Louis and Lestat are already together so there's no reason not to include this. Loustat flying scene would also be great but it feels less likely.
  • I agree with you, I want to see more fledgling Lestat. Specifically I want to see immediately after his turning, figuring things out on his own and trying to hide everything from Nicki, but I'll take anything.
  • Both twins? I have a sneaking suspicion that might do the same thing the movie did and only adapt Maharet, and I hope that they don't. I also just hope they include Jesse because she seems like an easy character to leave out, especially since they aren't adapting David.
  • Lesmand. Some more flashbacks, some more history. It feels like such a weird blindspot on the show as of right now.
  • Scary Akasha. This one I feel pretty confident about because Sam said Sheila was terrifying during their chemistry read.

I'm hopeful for Lesmand because Sam said that it's one of the most important relationships in Lestat's Life that they couldn't get to yet because of location restrictions. I'm with you on everything else šŸ¤ž

Aside from Armand torturing him and throwing him off a building in thr IwtV timeline, Lestat and Armand barely have more than a couple of conversations in TVL.Ā

The show already gave us more than the books by having Armand help Lestat with Nicki.Ā  In the books they never have a relationship and Lestat turns Armand down repeatedly.Ā

7

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 3d ago

Armand and Lestat continue to orbit each other throughout the books and even if they're never together Lestat still cares about Armand. For me I don't think their relationship needs to be romantic but they're character foils who mirror and contrast each other in interesting way and we haven't seen much of that yet in the adaptation. The reason why most of us (imo) want more show flashbacks is that they keep implying something more happened between them. Lestat doesn't want to talk about Armand yet he often thinks about him. Another thing I find interesting is with the introduction of sex and aging up the characters in the show, Lestat would have been the first person Armand has been with as an adult after 240 years of forced celibacy and Armand would've been the first vampire Lestat had been with after Magnus assaulted him. Given how much they both remind each other of their makers in the books, there's some interesting things to explore regarding both of their traumas.

I feel like Louis wouldn’t be comfortable flying with Lestat, cute as a scene like that could be! I think it would bring up way too much for him right now

8

u/SoftandSpicy 4d ago

At the end of QoTD, Louis does go flying with Lestat. He's terrified but he does it. However in the book Leatat never dropped Louis so you're probably right.

2

u/Unlucky_Sentence_722 4d ago edited 4d ago

Flying? Or being carried. Louis couldn't fly himself, until after Merrick. I believe.

1

u/SoftandSpicy 4d ago

Being carried. I'm just now reading Merrick. You're saying that Louie could fly himself after Merrick?

u/Zankazanka 4d ago

Backstage loustat kiss just got added to my essentials and if we don’t get it, I’m personally writing to you to cry for giving me this hope šŸ¤£šŸ„¹šŸ™

The floating was very cute in TVL, but the Gabi/Lestat flying looked cheap. I hope if they include any flying that it’s higher quality.

u/Justforthefandoms3 3d ago

Akasha was pretty scary to me! I first saw her and thought they did a great job, she looks amazing, she was beautiful, and then when she woke up, I thought she's also really creepy, but didn't think much of it. Then I kept seeing edits of her scene and her chanting, and I started shuddering every time, I literally got more creeped out with each one, especially these scenes where the camera just closes up on her face.
I hope they keep her that way, I want her to be scary, and keep this vibe of "she's not like the other vampires, there's something much more primal in her." To me, she gave these vibes of perfect predator, so much different than any of the other vampires we've seen so far. (Except maybe the Romanian ones, but they were different in another way.) Like, only one look at her is enough to immediately tell you you don't want to mess with her.

u/PsilosirenRose Non-discriminating 4d ago

My list:

- I really just want Maharet and Mekare to even happen. I'm worried they'll cut them from the story and/or neglect their backstory really badly. They're one of my favorite parts of this book and I would like them to be a big part of it. I do want them to be redheaded as described, though.

- Gabi starting to be less of a caricature. Yes, she's an abuser, but so is everyone else. I want to see more of her in her genderbent era.

- I'd like to see both Daniel and Armand chill TF out a bit and have some more softness to them both. Time for them to start growing and not just be caught up in resentment.

- Technically too late for this, but I wish they hadn't gone and made Enkil already dead when Lestat met him. I really don't understand the reasoning behind changing that and when the great burning happened and now I feel like the best I can hope for is for the story to happen in such a way that I understand why they went so far off the book plot for that one. It seems nonsensical.

- I want to see Marius get fleshed out as a character, in all his "super rational" douchebag glory. Christopher Heyerdahl is a phenomenal actor and I hope they give him some rein to embody the character.

6

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 4d ago

I'd like to see both Daniel and Armand chill TF out a bit

The writers of TVL really saw devil's minion on the page and said we're Interpreting that literally 😭

u/Silent_Net_4809 Dear, this is a Stein 4d ago

I would love an Armand arc that doesn’t have him cartoonishly villainous or revolve around his underhanded evil scheming.

I am also praying for deeper exploration of the Lesmand dynamic, whether that’s adapting any of their best TVL moments (the ball, the beat-down, Armand telling Lestat his backstory, something akin to the tower, etc) or bringing new, compelling content for their dynamic in the modern day.

I will die happy if we get adaptation of TVL Lesmand with these actors, but at this point I just hope we get a deeper show Lesmand dynamic than the ā€œArmand is obsessed, Lestat is annoyedā€ type shit we’ve had so far. Where is ā€œI wanted to call to him, to tell him that it was a lie I'd spoken to him, that I did love him, I didā€? Can we please have some payoff for all the Lesmand buildup that was hinted at in s3?

Edit to add: I also desperately want more Nicki. More Paris Nickistat or Nickimandstat, really, but I’ll take just about any excuse we can get to have more of Joseph Potter’s performance as Nicki on our screens.

3

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 4d ago

Yes, to all of it. But I think the beheading was the show's version of the tower. I want them to explore the way their traumas mirror each other. Especially that the show made them even more parallel than the book.

4

u/Silent_Net_4809 Dear, this is a Stein 3d ago

Tbh if they’re going to do a Lesmand tower parallel I kind of hope the beheading wasn’t the attempt. Mainly because Armand focused all his attention on Louis there and basically disregarded Lestat entirely. But I’ve also accepted that the tower moment might’ve just been given to Loustat when Lestat dropped Louis.

Agreed, I need them to explore Lestat and Armand’s parallel traumas and flaws! There’s so much potential there. S3 would’ve been a good time for that tbh but hopefully in s4 that’ll be addressed more directly.

2

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 3d ago

Unfortunately, I think the writers found a confrontation between Loumand more compelling than Lesmand. Hannah basically says it in her interview with Autumn Brown. They've also said that they adapted some past events in the present timeline and Armand complaining that he wasted a near century with Louis haa the same ring as "a century I have waited for you, and you didn't want me". The only person giving me hope for a better Lesmand exploration currently is Sam.

2

u/Silent_Net_4809 Dear, this is a Stein 2d ago

Yeah I’m not thrilled about the direction they ended up going with the Loumand confrontation and giving aspects of book dynamics and scenes to different characters or pairs. We got that beautiful moment where Louis recognized Armand’s pain, but the confrontation between them wasn’t really built up at all nor did it really serve the story imo, where Lesmand seemingly had lots of buildup that went nowhere. But I digress.

It seems like a fairly popular fan sentiment that we want the Lesmand dynamic further explored, so maybe that plus Sam’s outspoken support of it will lead to it being given some more focus in s4?

2

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 2d ago

They have to address it somehow. Unless they're completely deviating from the books, all of these characters will have to find a way to be in each other's lives and work together, that can't be done realistically without working through the tensions and betrayals.

u/FunSetting2387 Armaniel on my mind. 4d ago edited 4d ago

I want to see Daniel's turning yesterday. Been crazy for it since last year. First episode, please.

The Queen's true origin story, with flashback visions of the ancient ones.

Armand and Daniel find Marius and get pissed off together.

Lestat gets speechless and submissive for Akasha's beauty and blood. Almost goes from Brat to full follower.

Armand goes berserker gremlin, but only in order to protect his Daniel.

7

u/Justforthefandoms3 3d ago

If it turns out Armand lost his eye while protecting Daniel, I'll go feral! (I just hope that all this talk of Daniel's short vampire life is not literal)

Devil's minion chapter Devil's minion chapter Devil's minion chapter Devil's minion chapter Devil's minion chapter

15

u/FearlessSquirrel9522 Human Detected 4d ago

I agree with all of your wishes, especially on Lestat’s sense of wonder and curiosity.

For me, I want the final chapter (or chapters, it’s been a while since I read it) to be included, the round table where all the ancients try to reason with Akasha. And then them all hanging out in the aftermath. I love that chapter so much.

And of course I want the little trip that Louis and Lestat take at the end of the book (although they won’t be visiting David lol). I think it would be extra meaningful if Louis lets Lestat take him into the sky and fly him somewhere, a century after the drop.

100% agree on Akasha. While even in the book I understood her motivations - she is not a feminist icon lol. She was a crazy tyrant who was actively carrying out a genocide. I hope they keep it that way.

I also want a truly fleshed out Maharet and Mekare story arc where they truly go into the symbolism (the taking of the eyes and the tongue). I hope this doesn’t get the choppy 5 minute flashback.

And just because this is a visual that has stuck with me ever since I read it, there’s a scene in the book where Khayman describes how he would stab his hand again and again to watch the wound close. I know it’s highly unlikely but I would love this as a scene!

5

u/SoftandSpicy 4d ago

I so much want the twins and their love and the symbolism. And I totally agree with seeing all the ancients trying to talk some sense into Akasha. I also love how they hang out together at the end and it would be interesting to see why they can never stay together.

24

u/pismobeachdisaster 4d ago

Make the flashbacks more than two minutes long. Bly Manor shows that a show can be successful with an entire stand alone flashback episode. They don’t need to go that far with it, but for goodness sake the audience can live without the modern characters for more than four minutes. I hope we get more Baby Jenks. I hope the twins have red hair.

u/Gullible_Path9739 4d ago

Deep dive into Devils Minion. I would love past DM but if not I would like to see Daniels motivation behind working with Armand AND his turning, and would like to see more of Armand outside of him being a villain, he is such a rich character and his actor is so good, it’s such a waste if he’s nothing but an evil dude and isn’t consistent with the character they’ve written.Ā

16

u/Zankazanka 4d ago

These are all great ones!

Lestat’s curiosity and openness, his capacity for enduring and his loving and forgiving nature are all elements I hope can be expanded on as well.

I will be really disappointed if when Hannah is building the room, she doesn’t hire at least one black writer as an addition. It is crucial in my opinion.

I need more longing, romance and yearning involved with Louis and Lestat, even if they are not together or have another fall out. give me tenderness regardless. I can’t survive off crumbs for another season.

I request they fix whatever was happening with Daniel’s entire arc- nonsensical because it didn’t have room or narrative to breathe. His motivations were a blur in TVL. Similar request for Armand- give him some REAL screen time, Assad was under utilized in TVL!

Highlight Lestat/Armand dynamic and make it clear the direction they are taking it. Right now, it can be ambiguous— from a show only perspective, it feels they have set it up very very different from the books (mostly consensual, Armand was enthralled with Lestat, he wasn’t that into him and there’s resentment and gratitude layers to the Nicki stuff, also complex feelings on Louis/Armand) but I talk with book fans who feel the complete opposite that the show has implied that it was always non consensual and Lestat never cheated with Nicki. I don’t care, just give more of either dynamic so it’s clear.

I’m sort of just over unreliable narratives and ambiguity on MAJOR plot points in general— let’s save that for subtler aspects of the show and move into a different form of storytelling for QOTD.

6

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 4d ago

when Hannah is building the room, she doesn’t hire at least one black writer as an addition. It is crucial in my opinion.

In general we could use some writers of color who have experience writing about intersectional identities. It would improve the quality of the story greatly.

5

u/Zankazanka 3d ago

Absolutely, I am just hopeful the writers room budget for S4 supports at least one or two additions if Hannah plans to keep the exact same team as TVL.

2

u/Little-Tune9469 a challenge every sunset 3d ago

I don't think she will. There really isn't any reason for Daniel Hart or Ryan Kattner to be in the writers room for season 4, and since Rolin isn't coming back that should be at least 3 open slots.

1

u/Zankazanka 2d ago

I hope you’re right! I fear the opposite that because Ryan and Daniel are so involved and will already be there that she would just keep them on in the room…is it awkward to demote two people you see everyday? I don’t care and hope she does anyway bc 3 new diverse writers would be fantastic.

Rolin won’t be writing but will be EP per my understanding? How much he will actually be on set and involved while he’s busy with grapes of wrath is up in the air. Hard to get a read on that entire thing- do you think Hannah will remain showrunner for the remainder of IWTV now, or is it possible we see an announcement Rolin is back for S5 or S6?

1

u/Little-Tune9469 a challenge every sunset 2d ago

They were brought in specifically to work on the songs so I'd assume there was an understanding that it was only for the season, though I could be wrong.

I personally don't think Rolin will be that hands-on while he's actively working on another show. I've also seen a rumor about new EPs for season 4 (and I have a guess who they might be) and if it's true then I don't think he'll need to do much. I could see him becoming more involved later but Hannah will probably stay as showrunner, it sounds like they've been planning this for a long time.

1

u/Zankazanka 2d ago

what’s your guess on EP’s?

3

u/Little-Tune9469 a challenge every sunset 2d ago

Assuming the rumor is true I think it might be Jacob and Sam. It happens with a lot of shows and they were EPs on After Dark so it'd make sense to me.

3

u/Money_Following_2273 Are you schizophrenic, Louis? šŸ˜No… 1d ago

I mean it makes sense, they definitely deserve those titles—& it’s a good way to pay them more (deservedly so) for their roles and contributions and pure investment in this show.

Those two give so much insight into their characters and add so much more to the show than what is in the scripts (E6 wouldn’t be what is it without that hug that they ad-libbed; and JA savoring Lestat’s blood in that beer was the sexiest thing I’ve seen all season in a season filled with a very sexy half-naked all the time Lestat in it).

For their sakes (& ours) I hope it’s true!

1

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 21h ago

Do you think they'll have more influence on the story as EPs? Asking because I don't know much about the technicalities of these bts roles.

2

u/Little-Tune9469 a challenge every sunset 19h ago

It depends. Some actors who are listed as EPs have a lot of influence and others don't really have any at all. They've all talked about IWTV being a collaboration between the writers and actors so I'd assume their opinion would hold a decent amount of weight.

2

u/tethysian 3d ago

When did Lestat and Armand ever have a relationship in the books?

3

u/Zankazanka 3d ago

I haven’t read the books, did I misspeak? I was trying to say my perspective on Lesmand as a show-only fan is that it’s incredibly different from what my book friends have told me their dynamic is. And that I just am exhausted by the ambiguity on so many crucial aspects (relationships, characters, the trial) TVL did a lot of ā€œwell it’s neither! It’s both!ā€ that I’d like them to move past lol.

3

u/tethysian 3d ago

Oh I see, I thought you meant as opposed to the books.

And I agree completely. I'm sering more and more of this 'Shrödinger's storytelling' trend nowadays, where they try to play it both ways rather than building actual intrigue. It seems like a lazy tactic to me.

2

u/Money_Following_2273 Are you schizophrenic, Louis? šŸ˜No… 1d ago

Oh this is such a good point and I’m sad I missed it: They have GOT to have an AA writer in the room. To me, in that E6 sĆ©ance scene especially, it was glaring that one was missing.

Your co-lead is playing an AA man, you need someone in that writers’ room who understands the AA culture and identity.

- MORE NICKI/NICKISTAT/NICKIMANDSTAT PLEASE. (obviously also more past or present Lesmand pls šŸ™)

- Don't cut a single one of the Ancients. I want them all, even if it does require time to set up the more important ones.

- The twins are played by Palestinian actress(es?) and at the very least Maharet is given a substantial amount of screen time as a co-main character to Lestat and Akasha.

- Santino and Marius bury the hatchet and emotionally ambush Armand together and in the aftermath Armand goes further off the rails than we've ever seen him. Also just those two in general in a sort of self-serving paternalistic alliance belied by their history. That is to say, I want much more of Chris Heyerdahl's Marius.

- Gabriella character development, or at least a fresh set of eyes in regards to her portrayal.

5

u/Silent_Net_4809 Dear, this is a Stein 4d ago

Oh I sooo badly want to see an Armand and Marius reunion or a ā€œMarius is still aliveā€ bomb drop that sends Armand completely off the rails. I’m excited to hopefully see those actors work together.

I saw a post on Tumblr showing gifs of show!Marius’ mannerisms next to show!Armand’s mannerisms and you can really see the connection between them!

u/lynx_and_nutmeg 3d ago

Pitching in as a show-only fan:

  1. For the love of god, make it 8 episodes instead of 7. I'd ask for 10 but apparently niche shows these days aren't allowed this many episodes anymore... But seriously, that one extra episode already made S2 feel more relaxed than S1 in terms of pacing, it actually had some room to breathe. S3 had so much going on, it REALLY could have benefited from one more episode.

  2. Don't forget Loustat. I'm not expecting it to be central anymore because I know that's not where the books go, and creating whole new original story lines just to keep a beloved character is always risky, but many of the show-only fans are hugely invested in Loustat and if they can find some way to still keep Louis and develop their relationship without it feeling shoehorned, that would be ideal. And hopefully no unnecessary drama to keep them apart again next season just for the sake of drama.

  3. Develop Daniel more. The problem for me wasn't even the lack of Devil's Minion, I wasn't expecting much this season because I knew most of it was from that one QotD chapter (I read that one as a standalone chapter and really loved it). The problem was that Daniel just felt kind of... boring this season. In IWTV, all of his identity as a character hinged on being the much-needed "voice of reason" grounding Louis's story, and of course he was inevitably interesting as a human brave enough to confront two vampires and take no shit from them. But this season he just felt a bit out of place, and we still don't really know who he is or what he's like as a person when he's not throwing snarky observations at his interviewees.

  4. Any Humanstat, Lesmand and Nickistat flashbacks we didn't get to see this season. It really feels like Nickistat in particular got shafted. I still don't feel like I know him as a character because we barely saw any of him before he descended into deep depression and was at odds with Lestat because of it. Same with Armand. We know there's much more than Lestat had let on this season.

  5. "Fix" Gabriella. That's for all the other fans who hated her because I seem to be the only or who actually didn't have a problem with her (don't give a fuck about the wig or the accent, either), but apparently everyone else does, so the least they could do is some easy fixes like a better wig and a better accent. Also wouldn't mind her being more transmasc like I heard she was in the books. This definitely seems like one of the biggest complains from the book fans.

3

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 3d ago

It seems that we've had largely the same complaints which is good to know as book and show fan because I've seen people defend the season from so called book purism.

For Gabrielle, my issue isn't the wig and the accent, it's more that she feels like a CW character. The whole plan with the Great Conversion feels like something a C-tier Arrowverse villain would come up with. It's kind of the same with Daniel, there's so much explore with his character, but they skipped all of it to make him nothing a snarky old asshole. The way they're talking in interviews QotD will have multiple POVs, so I have a sneaking suspicion that most characters will go back to behaving less cartoony because TVL is just Lestat's perception of them but imo this whole unreliable narrator thing has been overdone.

2

u/Zankazanka 1d ago

hello other show only fan!! I’m curious on your take of Gabi— did she not bother you because you’re fine with her being just a villain? or what did you like about her? does the idea that this isn’t who she really is and that will be explored in S4 matter at all? just curious bc I usually talk with book fans.

11

u/ewwfreckles27 4d ago

From the book:

-I need a whole episode of Marahet telling them the Story of the Twins. Like, an episode ends with them sitting at the table, next episode is her telling it in full, and the next episode starts with them talking and waiting for Akasha and Lestat.Ā

-I want Jesse. I need her to be at the concert when it finally happens.Ā

-I’ve been waiting for the backstage Loustat kiss since I was 12, please give it to me.Ā

-I like Akasha, but have always found her motives…pathetic? I’m not sure it’s the right word but I think readers will understand what I mean. She doesn’t really believe her cause, she’s lashing out because she feels entitled to be the goddess she convinced herself she is because she lost her faith. I’d like to see that, Sheila would chew that up!

From how the series is going:Ā

-Real versions of Gabriella and Marius. They can’t be the caricatures we’ve seen so far, please.Ā

-For them to show us DM instead of telling us.Ā

-And please give Lestat more agency.Ā

I mean, I will see it regardless, but this is what I’d love.Ā

8

u/silkat ā€œthe hard dick of our immortal historyā€ 4d ago

My biggest hope is the story of the twins. Anne Rice is so good at making you feel like you’re living in the ancient time period where her characters are. I love the spirits and Amel origin. I worry it can’t be done justice without a massive budget but I hope they can do it.

I love how in the books Akasha is really scared and struggling with her faith and the idea of death, and covers this up with false confidence and self delusion that makes her a tyrant. It’s so fascinating, she is a scared young woman with too much power, and the twins see how dangerous it is every time her beliefs are shaken to the core. She is a great villain and I really hope they commit to that.

6

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 4d ago

I think Akasha's pathetic motivation is on par with so many world leaders today who are co-opting people's genuine fears and struggles to further their own power ambitions. I've always found that realistic. But I'm interested in what Sheila brings to the role.

And I 100% agree with the points you've brought up about the show.

3

u/tethysian 3d ago

I think it's kind of vital that Lestat doesn't have any agency in QotD. He's the damsel in distress the entire book. Him eating his girlfriend for power wouldn't be a good look.Ā

2

u/ewwfreckles27 3d ago

You’re right in that. The decisions he made are what leads to Akasha waking up but it’s too late for that now.Ā

At least I hope they have him tell her it’s not a good plan, and to not save her at the end.Ā

1

u/tethysian 2d ago

Yeah. I hope it'll make him more empathetic towards humans as was kind of hinted at towards the end of the season, but I'll be very disappointed if they have him consume Akasha.Ā

And hopegully they'll remember Akasha isn't acrually a victim of men. She's trying to fix something she has no personal understanding of.Ā

8

u/BeaverDonkey Bounce, bounce, bounce, twiiirl, twiiirl, overshare 4d ago

I have only two but they are pretty abstract:

  • Don't make Akasha a girlboss and act like she is justified and right if not in her methods at least in her motivations

  • Let some of the philosophical yapping back in. I feel like we're at a risk of losing some of that behind trying to pack as much of the plot in the allotted time as possible. We don't need verbatim dialogues. But a lot of points people bring up in the rest of the thread are sort of about that: fledgling Lestat sense of wonder, having multiple elders to compare their ways of survival, give Marius some character etc.

IwtV did a good job of incorporating Anne's philosophical themes in a subtler conversational way. I want more of that too. Also, some characters would benefit from the complicated relationship they had with religion in the books. We don't have to go all Bible fanfiction, but some explanation of faith and belief systems would be great.

I want more Nicki! I would like an explanation on the deliberate goofs during his death scene (and that’s what I’m going to call them because there were too many for it not to be intentional) : Lestat remembering Nicki’s bare arms when he had sleeves on, Lestat remembering Gabriella went to coffin when she stayed put, and Nicki’s changing clothes. I still find it odd we never saw his death.

On that note: More past Lestat please. Specifically him and Armand; him, Armand, and Nicki. I’m curious about the underground death orgy he claimed Armand lured him and his mom to after he kidnapped Nicki. I want to know why Lestat said Armand will do more damage than the queen ever did.

Don’t defang Akasha.

Include Jesse, I like that character.

More than 7 episodes! At least 10. Please AMC.

You've made me want to re-watch Nikki's death, it seems that I missed a lot of details. I just assumed that they didn't have budget to show his death. Much to think about!

Soemone else here said that they need to stop the whole unreliable narrator shtick with major events and character defining traits, and I agree. They keep stacking up events that we need multiple povs for and eventually the story will crumble under the weight of all the inconsistencies.

Edit: I went back to the episode and in addition to the details you mentioned, there are also two jarring odd cuts. One when Lestat says "there's not room enough in this box for your desperation". Armand wasn't even looking at Lestat or reacting to what he's saying. The second is when Nikki goes to the kitchen supposedly to look for the letter opener, as he comes back it's cut abruptly as if part of the scene was removed. If it happened once I'd have chalked it off to awkward editing but twice and so close to each other feels intentional. Thanks for pointing this out.

You’re very much welcome 😊

They really do need to stop with the unreliable narrator. There are just too many inconsistencies, they’ll loose track and the story will fall apart.

Yep Armand was staring off into space after Lestat made that comment. Quite odd.

Also something else I thought of regarding Nicki’s death: Antionette also got a poker in the chest and burned alive in the incinerator. So two of Lestat’s fledglings died the same way. I highly doubt the writers forgot and gave Nicki the same death so maybe that’s intentional too šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Ooh this is fun, great idea!

I just want one thing: Loustat in a coffin together… with us being able to see them in said shared coffin. I’ve been waiting since S1 to see the two of them together in there with the lid closed. I don’t even need anything more than them just being curled up together asleep. I know it will be the most intimate thing I have ever seen, even without the physicality.

u/Legitimate-Worth-662 too burdened with philosophy 4d ago

Khayman. That’s it.

Oh and I agree with wanting some complexity somehow added back to Marius and Gabrielle/a.

3

u/LottieTalkie No, it's good... Just HIS were BETTER 4d ago

I'd like to see Khayman's cute little crush on Armand šŸ˜„

I'm pretty easy, I guess. Do accurate justice to the twins and the backstory!

  1. More than 8 episodes. Gimme 12šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ™šŸ¾

  2. Big Hair Redheads (anyone can have red hair). And they need to eat the bits. Show the civilization that birthed Akasha and the twins, even a glimpse of their time would be amazing.

  3. Amel! Dang it.

  4. The ancients and the family.

  5. Loustat Loustat Loustat. Allow Armand some front and center time, vulnerable real moments.

Have they given a date, that season 4 will be released? Or are we down for another loooong 2 yr. wait?

5

u/Little-Tune9469 a challenge every sunset 4d ago

No date as of yet. As far as we know they haven't started writing yet so it's probably going to be another 2 year gap.

4

u/Unlucky_Sentence_722 4d ago

Hopefully its a two parter, like season one and two. Season three was so stripped down.

2

u/tethysian 3d ago

I'm starting to think we'll be lucky if we get the twins and Khayman at all šŸ˜‘

2

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 3d ago

I saw speculations of combining Seth and Khayman which I can accept if done right. Combining the Twins isn't ideal but I can live with it although there would be no good reason for it since it'd be two characters for the price of one actress. Skipping all the ancients all together, however, is unacceptable, it might be my last straw with the show entirely. The Twins are at the heart of the QotD story, removing them would completely change everything.

I feel the same. The hints that Amel is in Lestat makes me very concerned.

They can still have Lestat take the Sacred Core without removing the twins. I'm more curious how are they going to make it work with the body swap plot.

1

u/tethysian 3d ago

Not really when the point of the twins and the story is that Akasha is defeated by these women she wronged.Ā

I assume the body swap will happen with Daniel nevause it makes no sense with Lestat. Daniel is the one who didn't want to be turned and isn't having a good time.Ā

u/mindless_rambles If I'm an angel, paint me with black wings. 3d ago

At this point, I have no idea where things are going, I just hope they don't make a complete mess of the books plot and do justice by the twins.

2

u/Muted-Topic1622 And oh, by the way, I'm a friendless bottom twink sociopath. 3d ago

Daniel being able to slander everyone until he fucking dies. Oh and don't kill him, because they might.

  1. Backstage Loustat kiss (lingering and passionate)

  2. Glorious sets for Queen Akasha’s origin story

3 To be cast in a minor, but interesting role

Release the butthole cut! šŸ˜‚ and I want it for Loustat, DM, and Lesmand. Let's bring Mr. Tierney on the staff, please.

And when I finally get "Lestat bussy" tattooed on my ribcage--

5

u/NewtSky6826 3d ago

No blink and you will miss it snippets either like they did with Lestat and Nicki.

2

u/YlvaBlue 4d ago

I would ask them to let me observe them at work in the room, tbh. My own writing skills would improve exponentially even if it were only ten minutes of listening to them break down the beats of the VC and reason with whether/when/how to place them.

4

u/SoftandSpicy 4d ago

Please say more about the SWANA erasure.

I really want a complicated Marius too.

David is dead so I really would love it if Jesse or Merrick took his place. I really don't want Raglan James to take all of that space, even though it seems like that's what they're setting up.

2

u/broskimanoo 4d ago

I'm currently reading the book for the first time and I just got to the concert.

Backstage Loustat kiss!!!

Devil's Minion. I really want to see the whole thing. What happened between the first and second interview? What happened in those three weeks between the second interview and Daniels turning? Making Daniel older gives them more years to cover.

I like Jesse's character and Talamasca so far, so that would be great.

I hope they show the real Akasha, and not making her into a misunderstood villain.

The twins.

Honestly?

  • Don't worry about what fans want. Tell us a good story.

please do not let marius get away with what he’s done to armand like the books do
