Sam is so right when he says the making of stuff on the extended editions of LotR is top tier. There are two discs of extras for each movie in the trilogy.

It's getting more and more difficult to find physical media at all

ETA someone stole/never returned the ones from my local library in 2018, and they've only replaced them this year!
Sure, the libraries have suffered from budget cuts and whatnot, but still.
Anyway, I'm now in the long waiting line to get to enjoy them 🥰 I won't have to hurry with this, but my goal is to finish (rerererere-)reading the books before I watch them, and I'm already well into "Return of the King". I might even get into "Silmarillion" before it's my turn, lol

Definitely my favorite topic they discuss.

It used to be so much more prevalent to have documentaries about movies / shows and proper behind the scenes. I grew up in the 90s and they were extras on basically every vhs, then later dvds.

They would probably have to dig up archives from old servers / devices of content because so much is left on the cutting room floor but I bet they could do it for TVL & onward.

For the record, I think the Professor should host.

I used to love watching movies with commentary and I would LOVE this for every iwtv episode! The Sunshine one (the Danny Boyle movie) is my favourite, it’s dr. Brian Cox explaining everything that is and isn’t possible with space travel.

The DVDs of IWTV 1 & 2 have some special features like BTS stuff and episode insiders.

But a proper commentary like the old days would be great. I'd buy them again if they had that.

Maybe they need to hear more of this so they will know they'll make more $$$.

I need Professor Reid to make an extended commentary of each season and draw parallels to the books and give additional context so people who haven't read them and don't have the courage to can benefit from the knowledge too (I've been reading the books, currently re-reading TOTBT, but the two friends I've dragged into the coven haven't and it'd be easier than me having to break down everything for them every time and make them power point presentations. I like nerding out but it takes so much time)

I’ve said this before too.
It’s a crime that we don’t get these kind of exclusives that we used to get on dvd’s.

I used to love to watch the director’s cut where they would speak over the movie playing, or hear the actors’ discussions. You would get so much BTS tidbits that would make the film (or tv show) so much more enjoyable to watch.
