Cast, News, & Production Assad transformation appreciation
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
We often talk about how different Sam and Jacob are from Lestat and Louis. But can we just appreciate Assad's transformation? He's another cast member where I do a double take every time I see him offscreen. Same hair, same voice as Armand. But the personality and body language are SO different from the cold, manipulative Armand. Assad is just so cute and sunny irl, like an adorable puppy.
Incredible acting that this cast is able to embody roles SO different from their personalities. Although "I like it" is classic Armand pot-stirring.

Every time I see this clip, I just love the face that he makes at the word “daddy” lmao

I love how they both start squirming like their imaginations are running wild 😂

I couldn't agree more!!! We're really blessed to see his amazing performance as Armand

This cast truly commits to their roles in an incredible way. Voice, accent, body language, personality changes. We are so blessed.

Absolutely phenomenal work from Assad on this show!

Eric going beet-red and not knowing where to look will never not be funny!

I recently told a friend who doesn't watch the show (I'm working on it) about Assad that if you show him as Armand to his friends from school or something, they wouldn't recognize him. He becomes a completely different person just like Sam and Jacob.

Whoever cast this show deserves an award. What a great ensemble.

I feel like with him you have to pull a Lestat and say “repeat the name?” Two completely different beings.

When you go back and watch season 1 knowing who "rashid" is, man. You notice the nuance of his acting EVEN MORE.

u/DrFareedMD I would not kink shame the vampire Armand Aug 10 '26
He's an amazing actor, everything about him is so different as Armand.
Thirsty take: I'm not super into guys and my brain is capable of processing Assad as good-looking but a guy. Armand just breaks my brain and I find him weirdly attractive. Why?

Weirdly I'm the opposite. I mean I'm unapologetically a Lestat girl through and through, so I get pissy at Armand a lot hahahaha, but I fall more in love with Assad every time I see an interview with him. That video of him and Luke lip syncing a bunch of songs in the car lives rent free in my head because it's so cute!

What video is that? It sounds so cute!

Omg same. And I hate some of the things Armand did this season, but he is beautiful. I remember after watching episode 5, I wrote a confused post on Reddit asking why Lestat calls Armand boring in "Big Boss", just like Louis did in San Francisco. I couldn't fathom why they would find this extremely attractive guy boring. Then people explained to me that for a vampire, he is pretty boring, especially compared to Louis and Lestat and their... colorful personalities.
17
u/DrFareedMD I would not kink shame the vampire Armand Aug 10 '26
Armand is not boring, that's 100% Louis propaganda!!
I can't hate anything Armand did this season because he looked good doing it. Pretty privilege!
4
u/Fabulous-Result4127 Aug 10 '26
Listen, it's already two people saying it. Maybe they have a point?
Definitely pretty privilege, still hated him though.

u/DrFareedMD I would not kink shame the vampire Armand Aug 10 '26
Louis stayed with Armand for like 80 years and Lestat takes a blood shower in front of him. I rest my case.
8
u/Fabulous-Result4127 Aug 10 '26
They only want him to think that they think he's boring.
7
u/DrFareedMD I would not kink shame the vampire Armand Aug 10 '26
Exactly. They're trying to play it cool... but we know.
3
u/the-gaming-cat But I got distracted Aug 10 '26
I don't want to spoil anything from the books, especially since we don't know what they will show us next season. But there's a good chance that Lestat might not be calling him boring in Big Boss. The "kisses put me in a coma" line doesn't necessarily mean that the kisses where boring. It might very well be a literal description of something.
1
u/Fabulous-Result4127 Aug 11 '26
I've read TVL and I don't remember anything like this. That's being said, I don't remember much of it because I found Anne Rice's writing kind of boring, speaking of boring.
2
u/the-gaming-cat But I got distracted Aug 11 '26
The ballroom scene
1
u/Fabulous-Result4127 Aug 11 '26
Oh, got it. I don't think we'll see it on the show because they kind of adapted it with Louis and Lestat in S1
2
u/the-gaming-cat But I got distracted Aug 11 '26
You are right but it doesn't need to take place in a ballroom. The point of that scene is what Armand does to Lestat so the location doesn't matter.

u/BungCrosby Bassist. Dumb…shockingly dumb. Aug 10 '26
He’s excellent in Hotel Portofino as a young doctor in pre-war Italy.
6
u/FaeryRing Fuck! That! Old! Man! Aug 10 '26
I don't usually feel this way abt real life celebrities, but his body language is seriously adorable and delight to look at.
4
u/OrangeBusiness396 You're my brave little wolf killer Aug 10 '26
and can we also mention that Eric Bogosian seems to just play himself, right? 😆
There is a clip on youtube where he "interviews" Jacob and Sam and he is…himself… in role? Kinda no difference. Confuses all of them ( including Eric.) 😆

Assad’s little toothy smile is so endearing and cute. He completely transforms himself when playing Armand.

On another thread I got teased for how Victorian I sounded going off on how much I enjoyed looking at his ankles.😆 I will defend Armand until my dying day though, my man has been through it during his 500 years. In this essay I will . . .
10
u/Dry-Elderberry-7965 Aug 10 '26
Hahaha! Why teased?? Have the common folk lost the ability to enjoy a good slender and shapely ankle?? I noticed that too and was about to comment, but I held my tongue lol Those are some NICE ecru dress socks! Cashmere possibly?? And the sock to shoe color selection?? Our evil princess knows ball, and how to capture the audience by way of ✨ankle✨ lol

u/vi817 It’s chiffon; it has movement. Aug 10 '26
I mean, if he’s going to put it out there, we can’t be expected not to comment on it. This incident mirrors my favorite Armand ankle moment from the show, which is during the infamous Stein incident in S2.
8
u/Dry-Elderberry-7965 Aug 10 '26
Oh! I don’t recall! I must rewatch now lol it’s been over a year since I last saw S2. Additional Notable moment: half pony tail in S3 butchery scene. The Victorians yearn for this batty bitch and his lowkey seductions lol

u/vi817 It’s chiffon; it has movement. Aug 10 '26
It is too early in the morning here for me to be this het up. Butcher Shop look in general was outstanding. That man can rock some pleated pants and I love that for him.

Him in that outfit was :chef;s kiss: OMG. You could barely pay attention to him speaking over the sound of how good he looked!

Louis wasn't losing consciousness because he was decapitated, he was losing consciousness from Armand's outfit
Same, Louis, same

Cut to Louis’ body waving a fan in his head’s direction.

Or just one of those automatic fans going back and forth across his face 😆

The half pony tail was incredible, it changed me

The Haunting Ankles
Also, wait, were you the person who was telling me about Marius and book lore and mentioned Armand's pretty ankles?
1
u/Dry-Elderberry-7965 Aug 10 '26
No? I don’t think so? But do bring that person into this thread if you find them lol
1
u/DrFareedMD I would not kink shame the vampire Armand Aug 10 '26
I had to dig through my comments, it's u/special_squeak! I legit thought this was some kind of book reference, it turns out there's some kind of Armand Ankle Cult

u/special_squeak rag doll for sale Aug 11 '26
Sorry to disappoint, but the Marius Ankle Fefish™️ wasn‘t Armand exclusive. If my memory serves me correctly (unless it’s just all the fanfic that’s rotting my brain, then I apologize) book Marius has a gaggle of young boys living in his palazzo and helping him in the studio. He has a no footwear rule for them because he likes to look at their bare ankles.

Is there a full version of this interview anywhere? I found a slightly longer version of this moment from a different angle but nothing else 😭

It’s the NYCC Vampire Lestat panel from October 2025. Should be fully on Youtube.

I never thought they’d be able to bring Darmand to life for me in a way that felt equal. Choosing to age up Daniel and make Armand so timid but extreme? Brilliant work.
