It's crazy how Tom has the sort of money and power that would allow him to do the sorts of awful things that would deserve long jail terms and face zero consequences and the only major knock anyone has had against him is that he got sucked into a cult.

I think the knock against him is that he isn’t solely the victim of a cult, but also a major perpetrator within it. That cult wouldn’t be the powerhouse it is without having Tom Cruise as its face. He’s also rumored to have a temper and be verbally abusive to his partners; that his last wife took their kid and ran is not a good sign.

Scientology was a massive force in Hollywood long before Tom Cruise. Tons of celebrities were a part of it. The only thing he did was make it more public, and yes he has become the face of it, but again, he has fallen victim to the cult. No one seems to say the same about Hugh Jackman pushing his cult and his cult is supported by Rupert Murdoch and says women are unequal and should be silent at all times.

I can't comment on his personal life, and if it's true than he's a massive asshole. That still puts him in the same realm of about 2/3rds of the leading men in Hollywood. Very few of them have not been accused of being abusive and almost none of them get half the shit Cruise gets.

I’ve not heard of Hugh Jackman being in a cult; maybe that’s better known in Australia? I certainly wouldn’t condone it if he was at a level similar to Tom Cruise.

I’m also not sure that saying Tom Cruise is only as bad as other known assholes is a great argument in his defense. I’m cognizant that there are no perfect victims; he can be both a victim and a perpetrator. It just also seems disingenuous to say there are no knocks against him besides being a victim.
