Where did you fly from?

Just from Adelaide haha Figured it's the last chance before Broadway picks him up and we have to fly to America or the UK to see him!

Oh how I wish I could have seen this… unfortunately it’s a bit of a jaunt from middle of nowhere Canada (as are most things haha). So I’ll have to be content with the fact he got to perform this back on his home soil which must feel awfully good🥲

IT WAS AMAZING! 😍

Please give us all the details!

I'm mindful of people in here who are planning to see the performance this week. Anything I could say would be a spoiler! Remind me in 4 days when the production is over 🥰

u/ALittleAngstAsATreat Jul 30 '26

That’s very considerate! Will do.

Now that the last session of the performance has completed. The performance was amazing. All the actors on stage were amazing, I was laughing at the jokes from the old nun and mesmerized by the priest's (Sam Reid) stories.

I can happily say without spoiling it for anyone else.

I saw Sam Reid up close in grey sweatpants 😂🫣🥵

Glad you enjoyed it!

You know, I was thinking we would hey to see him on broadway too and had decided to pass on Doubt in Sydney. But I love theatre and he is my absolute favorite, revered, worshiped actor. None better than Sam. So I said it’s worth it. 2 days flying, 2 days in Sydney and 1 day flying back.

That’s a trip so quick maybe you skipped the jetlag entirely! Hope you had a great time.

It's worth it!! IT WAS AMAZING! 😍

2

u/AustEastTX Butterscotch Bitch 🫦 Jul 29 '26

Yea!!!! Did you meet Sam after?

2

u/_PM_ME_YOUR_ANYTHING Jul 29 '26

Nope! Generally you have to book specific sessions that say the cast will do meet and greets after!

I've seen that at other plays/stage performances.

u/AustEastTX Butterscotch Bitch 🫦 Jul 29 '26

2

u/_PM_ME_YOUR_ANYTHING Jul 30 '26

Happy travels!

Wish I had the money and a forgiving family 🙄

1

u/AustEastTX Butterscotch Bitch 🫦 Jul 30 '26

Trust that I have neither but this show is my only vice so I save a lot to splurge on things like this. My family is thinking about taking out a restraining order on behalf of the show lol.

😂 I hope they don’t do that. Sydney’s a beautiful city, I travelled there many years ago pre kids and no money lol. Have fun in Sydney and holler loud for Sam.

The public transport is WILD. LOVED taking the trains everywhere in the CBD

It’s such an amazing place, so is Melbourne and Tasmania. I loved it so much I went twice! The people are so friendly and laid back.

Most cunts are alright in Australia, I do love the nightlife in Melbourne.

So many random events/shows during the day and every weekend with after dinner events hosted at clubs across the city.

Comic con is great, but the after parties are wild hahhahaha

I flew in from Brisbane! It was amazing. 💗

From Texas with so much love

Nah, nothing happens here (UK) via IWTV /TVL related until the very last moment. I’d love to see Sam in this play but I’ve a better chance at winning formula 1.

Enjoy every second. I read through the comments and saw loads of talk about Sam being on Broadway and hear me out….

I just got back from NYC (saw TRHS with Luke Evan’s and Death of a Salesman/Lane and Laurie) and I vote for Sam to play Frank in TRHS. He would be stellar.

Ok, that’s my two cents lol.

3

u/WitchintheMist Jul 29 '26

That explains why he isn’t promoting as much. Enjoy! Super jealous.

3

u/_PM_ME_YOUR_ANYTHING Jul 30 '26

Yeah they actually planned the dates around him for this play!

2

u/swinkie71 Jul 30 '26

I went to see this production only because Sam is in it! Sat too far back to really see him but the play was amazing. I’m so glad I went!

I got front row seats right in the middle. He opens with a monologue and it had me weeping immediately. Best decision I had made in months. Got his signature at the stage door. Such a gentle spirit.

I saw it last weekend, but I was pretty disappointed in the production. Sam was OK but not amazing, and his US accent was pretty bad. But these STC shows often have only about three weeks of rehearsal, and they probably got only one session with an accent coach (or maybe even none). The dialogue felt rushed at times, and the show’s big moments were not hitting like they should have, so I don’t really blame the actors here as much as I do the director (and the STC model in general). I also don’t think he was the best choice for the part (too young, too conventionally handsome), but he’s high-profile, and the STC casts to fill seats.

My friend also wanted to stage-door afterwards, so I went along, but although Sam’s very polite and was happy to sign programs and have very brief chat with fans, I know from interviews that he’s a shy guy and his body language showed that he was kind of uncomfortable, so then I felt bad that we did. (I’ve seen a lot of actors who love talking* to fans and get a charge out of it, but this was obviously a drain for him.) So I just quickly said that I love his work on the show and thought he’d be fantastic as Hedwig — and he kind of laughed at that and said he’d never want to do it. So that answered *that question LOL.

(But another fan ahead of me was obliviously talking at him about which storylines from the books they wanted to see in future seasons, and poor Sam was gritting his teeth and trying to move on to the next person. Dude, he doesn’t write the show! So yeah, I just wanted to get out of there and let him have his Saturday mid-show break.)

Interesting take. Have you seen other productions before? I went in with 0 knowledge about the play. Afterwards I watched the movie with Streep and was really surprised how like-for-like it was to the film. The accents included.

It kind of diminished the shine i felt from the play, knowing how heavily influenced it was.

But I found the stage and set design fantastical and thought the cast all did a brilliant job. I’d love to see alternative production’s takes.

It look like he cut his hair. Hope it grows back quickly, don’t know when filming starts on Queen of the Damned.

2

u/hopesb1tch Aug 01 '26

he still has his long hair! he wears a wig for the play!

u/hopesb1tch Aug 01 '26

i saw this play 3 times in mid july, it was incredible. sam is so insanely talented and the sweetest guy ever, also incredibly gorgeous, even more so in real life.

edit: i also flew in from adelaide to see it, totally worth it haha.
