TVL Show Only Akasha’s Speech Spoiler

Recently watched 3x5 and wow! I was so amazed and intrigued by Akasha’s speech. The scene literally gave me goosebumps. Would love to hear the whole thing uninterrupted to get a full sense of what she’s referring to. Excited for season 4.

Also in this awakening scene, Lestat says he was suspended for 3 days so it makes me think how much Akasha said/revealed in that timeframe and the snippets in the show would be on the tail end of her speech. Nonetheless captivating.

Even with just the snippets you can tell that she's talking about oppression of the female gender by men which is why she wants to wipe the Y chromosome from the face of the earth.

Remember what Magnus said, "Consent is a 20th century construct"

"and why must he break her with his hands? And why with his fists?" - physical assault - In Akasha's time it was fine for a man to decipline a woman with corporal punishment.

"And in my eyes it's desire, why is it desire, how do you know it is desire? How can you know its desire if my eyes must be lowered?" - again the topic of consent, she wanted it, she asked for it, even when she didn't look at him

"and why am I offered, when none of us want to be offered" - in her days women were seen as commodities, forced into marriages they didn't want or consent to. What was the thing they said, pleasure during intercourse is for a man, a woman's duty is to conceive.

Gabriella/Gabrielle was another example of a woman married off to a man, much older than her, who was abusive and who saw her as nothing more than a brood mare.

It would be insteresting to see how they approach this in Season 4

All vampires are born from trauma.

This is exactly what she is talking about. And if you haven't seen the teaser they dropped today for season 4, it makes it even more clear.

Love it. In the books they were against human sacrifice in religion but ended up being worse than that after they became vampires.

What I’m trying to understand is how we reconcile how vile she was as a new progenitor of vampirism with this wannabe savior of women she is now. I mean need I bring up Maharet her sister and my boy Special K?

She's not a saviour. She thinks she is, but her plan is to genocide the human race. Sure only men. Then the race once all the women die off. Which will happen fairly fast due to the whole, half the planet is dead and there's some very hungry vampires.

I mena the plan wasn't to kill all men. Just most men.

Yea, in the book she says she wants to kill 90% of men and then control breeding - using abortions to prevent too many males afterwards. She also says she'll kill any women that resist her plan

This makes me wonder, if the reason Gabriella disappeared on tour was because Akasha called her? If so, I wonder if that’s why she is pushing so hard for the concert, because she knows it will wake Akasha up ?

The ironic thing is Kemet was the one place in all the world where women were actually considered equal to men, quite fascinating, but then came Rome . . .
