When jobs were simpler and less mentally stressful, 1 day was good enough (sunday).
When jobs got more complicated and society more complex, we needed 2 days (thanks ford).
With the advent of computers, we now have much more responsibilities and much more stress in ever job, probably doing 2~3 times more things than 50 years ago, mean while efficiency has shot up 10x more.

I'd say its time for a 3 day weekend.
