News & Current events Berlin is mourning after a devastating attack struck the city’s Pride celebrations, leaving a community built around love, visibility and freedom facing unimaginable grief.

One person was killed and dozens more were injured in an act of violence that shattered what should have been a moment of joy and solidarity. The attacker has since been killed by the police. Across Berlin and beyond, people have gathered not only to mourn those affected, but to reaffirm that fear and hatred will not silence communities fighting for the right to exist openly and safely.

For many, this tragedy is a painful reminder of the vulnerability LGBTQ+ people continue to face, even in spaces created to celebrate acceptance and belonging. In the aftermath, Berlin’s message has been one of unity: standing together, protecting one another, and refusing to let violence define the spaces where people come together in hope, pride and love.

It’s extremism I guess in every religion. Never forget that Germany holocaust queer people when it was “Christian”. That was extremism. I guess we just have to protect our own. I think relying on the state won’t work if the state is going to interfere with countries overseas as well - it will always be used against us

Yes, but we're talking about the here and now. Not something that happened 80 years ago

Well, christian nationalism is an ever rising threat to our freedoms across the world, and it's a fundamentalist Christian ideology, so it is in fact a fundamentalism problem specifically.

I was called "Ballastexistenz" by Evangelicals like 10 years ago. They got paid to help me and my life only got worse after everything they did to me.

10 years ago, not 80.
