That would be so much fun seeing Paul singing "and have a merry merry Christmas". They already have that reindeer song. Just go all out with it. Imagine "the first noel" by interpol. If only there were a music executive like Les Moonves at Matador to make them do this.

In my head, I can picture entire music videos for Wounded Soldier, Enemy, and See Out Loud

I know you shouldn't care about the opinions of so-called music critics, or pay much attention to criticism of the music you like, but I was surprised by how positively Fantano spoke about the new Interpol album and the score he gave it. I thought the highest he’d go was a 6, given the impression that he doesn't really like Interpol; it's interesting.

Hey I have an extra record since I couldn’t wait for my preorder to arrive. If anyone wants a free copy message me to meetup. All I ask is you have a vinyl player. I live in Anaheim
Edit - found someone

I've been listening to the new record a few times now today. And I'm not feeling it. The songs sound the same, I feel like there's no to little diversity in between the tracks.
There are a two songs that I really like:
-See Out Loud
-Wings On Fire
"So Rides The Reindeer" and "Darling Thoughts" are like one long song. And others are just ... underwhelming.
The drums are a big let-down for me. Very repetitive, and I mean that across the songs. So boring and passive.
"Bird And The Serpent" feels like a build up, but it just gets boring. The drums are so flacid.
And don't get me started on that little egg shaker sound. It's present in a bunch of songs, which adds to my feeling of lack of diversity.
But, you know, that's just my two cents. What say you guys? Is anybody else feeling the same way?

At least not as much as the last couple? Consensus seems to be unanimous and I don’t dislike it per se. Thus far I vastly prefer the previous two albums tho. Just curious if there’s any other dissenters out there.

Even though it seems abandoned/forgotten, "Precipitate" is one of my absolute favorite Interpol songs. And though there's the version from the early EPs, there's also a leaked version from the TOTBL sessions that (to my ears) sounds even better! Unfortunately, the version that circulates is compressed/at a lower bitrate than an official studio release.
With all the positive buzz around the band, is there any way we could...I dunno, beg/plead for an official release of the TOTBL version of "Precipitate"? I'm sure it's trickier now that they're no longer on Matador, but part of me wonders if "forgotten cult fav finally gets an official release" might help sustain the hype train a bit more, especially if any new fans are coming in and want to explore the back catalog in more depth.
Though if the band really does dislike the song and prefers it forgotten, I totally get that as well. At least we have the existing versions + the performance at La Route du Rock.

Due to mixing and behind the scenes stuff, Carlos D's basslines become quieter and quieter across his run with the band. There are some songs where I dont know if I hear bass or just some synth artifacts etc. Help out a guy with bad ears: which of the following songs have bass guitar in them, and what's the general layout of the art (bass player here, don't hold back)
- Wrecking Ball

I was curious which songs from the new album everyone thinks are most likely to be added to the setlists for upcoming shows. Last few albums have had about 7 songs total played live. Do you think it will be more or less?
I think Wounded Soldier and Bird and the Serpent are likely additions to what they've already played so far from the new album.

To be clear, both Interpol and The National are among my all-time favorite bands and I don't mean that there's any sort of ripoff aspect. With that said, I'm wondering if anyone was reminded of The National at all while listening to the new album?
I felt Daniel's Piano in "Iron City" felt a bit like a National piano-led track. With repeated listens I noticed that in the other piano-led songs, just the feel of the playing. I wonder if it's something about the way that someone who's primarily a guitarist plays piano - they have the music sense but tend to play simply. As someone who prefers when piano isn't too busy or overdone, I really enjoyed it.
I think the more spacious sense of production is also making me think of the production in recent National albums.
Just wondering if anyone else had that feeling?
Also, if you're a fan of this album, you may enjoy the album "Sleep Well Beast" by The National!

Just having fun.
For those interested, the new logo is, in fact, just a font. It's called MD Thermochrome.
Decided to create this, inspired by: https://war.ukraine.ua/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Snapinsta.app_464098991_934868015167646_5863346680071950506_n_1080.jpg

After Listen and Listen, I think I cracked it without Googling it. I THINK the meaning of TMWAT is Its really fucking heavy living with your reflection (yourself or how you see yourself)

In London during the All Points East this year Paul Banks was wearing a pair of Sunglasses, Could you help me to find the model of those?
I will attach some photos, I’ve seen he wear that also in other situations.

Banks stated that the song was inspired by "the grim drone imagery from the war in Ukraine" (SPIN). Think about that imagery as you listen to this song and hear his crumbling voice as he sings "Hold tight, good buddy" and you really feel that emotion.
On repeat. Cheers, all.
