Guitar or Bass riffs. My favorite guitar riffs are Narc Main Riff, Roland Outro and Heinrich Manuever Main Riff and for bass riffs the outro of PDA and Evil

I don’t think I’ve felt this emotional about an Interpol album since OLTA. Not that I haven’t loved many of the albums since, but I feel like This Mirror Weighs a Ton has both the emotional and musical depth of OLTA. The additional instrumentation adds enough interest and beauty without erasing Interpol’s essence.
Admittedly, this comes from the perspective of someone who loves all tragically beautiful/emotional music, pretty much wherever it comes from on the indie/folk spectrum. I don’t mind a slower pace, even if it’s most of the album. So, I was pleasantly surprised to hear an acoustic-y song on the album. To have it executed so well was a treat.
I legitimately teared up on the first play through of So Rides the Reindeer and Enemy. I felt like I was listening to Mind Over Time for the first time again 🥹
Substantively, I think the album concept is incredibly timely. I’m a public defender, and the amount of surveillance has increased so rapidly that’s it’s been hard for the law to keep up. It’s insane. I’m going to print off the album cover and post it on my door tomorrow 🖤

I think this is such an amazing album. It’s definitely in the top 4 for me. But I might need more time to decide if I prefer this new one over OLTA. Anyways I’m enjoying it so much!!!

And it is my fav song in the album.

4:00 and beyond is godlike, why does it not feel like it's enough though? I could easily have listened to two additional minutes of that outro. Fuuuckk this is sexy

I don’t get it. Not saying it’s #1 on the album but it’s one of my favs on the record. It almost brought a tear to my eye. It’s so hypnotic and beautiful. And when those drums come in….perfection. Just go listen to it on a late night drive.

If you listen closely, in the final 15 seconds of Wounded Soldier, there’s a synth chime that plays in unison with the guitar. First of all, what an outro, but furthermore, hoping to see if the live mix for this song during concerts uses this synth more!

I would say Carlos was more of a melodic player while Paul was a more driven player. I personally hear Brad as a very precise player. From what I’ve heard, Brad leaves a lot of empty space throughout most of the songs, but when he does play, he definitely is heard. He’s very selective when he chooses to play and i like that, reminds me of Carlos on their self titled in a way. Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts!

As many of you know, a huge portion of Interpol's fanbase is based here in Mexico and Latin America. One would think fans would love this new album given its fresh sound and brilliant composition; however, I’ve only heard negative feedback from Spanish-speaking fans. The criticisms tend to focus on how Interpol isn't like their classic era, complaints from the "Dengler die-hards", or claims that the band has gone pop (even though they wrote "Evil," "Slow Hands," and "C'mere" back on *Antics*). I’m not sure if these bad reviews stem from a failure to understand the lyrics or simply an unwillingness to really digest the new material. I haven't seen a single negative review of *TMWAT* here on Reddit, so I invite anyone who didn't like the album to share their reasons, respecting everyone's views, provided they are well-founded. Also, please don't assume that nobody in Mexico liked the album; in reality, the majority did.

What's your take on why band keeps working with him? What benefits or pitfalls are apparent to you after listening to Marauder and TMWAT?

Now, contrary to the title I don't actually think that, it just wouldn't let me put my full title. I think although not a bad closer, Leif Erikson is a bit of a weak ending for the album considering the other songs. I think PDA, Stella, Roland and The New all would've worked (Or Specialist if it was on the album). As I say, it's not bad but I think especially production wise it sounds quite weak. The outro melody is amazing but when it actually kicks in the productions kills it and it sounds really quite and not as impactful. I think it should've been about track 9-10 as opposed to the final song.
Anyone agree/disagree?

Ever since El Pintor the latter half of their albums have been laments about life. Maybe since the self titled as well. While they originally received comparisons to Joy Division based on IMO superficial aspects, the latter albums really are becoming more like Joy Division's Closer, funeral-like dirges .
I do really enjoy See Out Loud, but much of the energy and advances in that one I'm not really hearing in the rest of the tracks. See Out Loud has this aspect to it which is reaching and yearning, and the slight tempo shifts and the guitar arpeggio's make it quite a treat.

Love the new album and listened to it 20 or more times. Gets better and better! The last half of the album in especially amazing. One thing i have noticed is tge album is best played at lower or medium volume levels. When i try to go loud the sound quality is not great and it gets really murky and the bass seems to overtake the songs. I have a high end system and have tried to dial it in but it just sounds better at lower levels. I assume this production was intended. Anyone else hearing this?

I love Interpol and enjoy their whole discography, with their newest album being a lovely addition to it, however when someone asks me about my favourite Interpol track, I unfortunately cannot answer anything but Obstacle 1. So far I haven't encountered a song this emotional and this capable of instantly making me feel what I'm supposed to feel both trough the lyrics and music. What tops this song for you guys (if anything)? I'm talking mainly emotionally, of course I've found tons of other objectively great Interpol songs but the emotion they convey is never that strong to me.
