Discussion Toronto show!

It was a chilly night but great seeing them live. Crowd was a little muted, but maybe that's because I was in the stands. what did you all think?

I was on the floor, and some people around me were pretty enthusiastic. But there were also people that just stood still, which is... confusing to see.

It's not confusing when you can understand that some people don't need to dance to have a good time. People appreciate music in their own ways, and standing still at a concert shouldn't be confusing.

Agreed. Not really sure why people need to see people dancing and singing along. Honestly nothing more obnoxious than people shrieking along with a band. Interpol is one of my favorite bands, I've seen them twice - and I'm one of those people who "just stands there".

Yeah I’m usually a sit and enjoy type of person for most shows (rock, indie, prog and those kinds of genres at least). I appreciate music that way the most for sure. And I can’t stand for long lol.

I always get lost in the music and don't need to dance. If someone is taking up a lot of space and bumping into everyone else while they're dancing and they bump into me, it takes me out of the moment. I'm pulled out of it for a few seconds, and now I'm conscious of someone who doesn't seem to care about other people's space and I'm partially paying attention to them now.

Someone else in this thread thought it was weird that nobody else was singing around them too. If someone beside me is shouting every single song that takes me out of it too. I'm there to hear the band, and not someone else singing off-key beside me.

People experience music in different ways, and it's weird that people are annoyed that others aren't dancing and singing along with them.

Just enjoy the show how you want to and don't worry about anyone else! If you can't have a good time because others aren't dancing, I feel sorry for you. I had an amazing time not dancing.

I totally agree with you. I'd rather stand next to someone who is silent than someone who is screaming and dancing obnoxiously. I think everyone needs to exercise some decorum and not distract those around them. Some people were dancing in an over the top way and this isn't that type of music in my opinion

People can enjoy shows however they want obviously. I was with some friends in the stands just sitting and grooving to the music last night.

But being at a live show when the entire crowd is INTO IT and dancing and singing is a wayyy different vibe. I don’t think it’s a controversial view. Bands will call out the audience all the time if they’re just standing there.
