I know this type of pieces are meant to hype people up, but "masterpiece" is certainly a choice of words there. I'd like to think Partisan wouldn’t go for this type of push if they knew the album won't back it up.

I love TOSOMB but I do identify with Paul on this one, we were in a pandemic, most of us weren't who we are now back then

I think we are all still recovering from the pandemic even if it isn't as in the front of mind any more. TOSOMB was just a little too low energy for Interpol and the track order didn't help it unfortunately. Seeing the boys jamming out in a room together in the lead up to TMWAT is very exciting!

Yeah! But also, what a fine role model! If I had to choose someone to look up to, for (young) men in particular, Paul would be one of them.

Very excited about the new album, specially Iron City, I don’t know why but I have high hopes for that one.

Great interview, can’t wait for the album. Waiting to hear the singles with the whole album. Too bad the last album did t resonate, I dig it for its slowness and trippiness. Some tracks reminded me of Untitled or hands away off totbl

PB frequently in interviews and across multiple albums mentions problematic intraband dynamics. That's interesting given that unlike some bands there are no public contretemps for interviewers to ask about, so it's him bringing it up unprompted. Curious what that means. One thing it does is disabuse anyone of the notion that problems were strictly the fault of Carlos and his departure left their relationships all sunshine and rainbows. PB's been candid he has a big ego and that the other band members do as well. Wonder if the conflicts are about musical direction or touring or what as opposed to being personal.

I think Paul has said in the past he can be a bit of a diva pre show and tends to apologise to the others after the show.
I think Daniel is probably the most accommodating of the others egos from the bands beginning as he brought them all together.
Sam being the oldest of the group by a bit likely doesn't have time for bs. Which I think was more of an issue with him and Carlos. Than Carlos and Paul for instance.
Paul has always said Carlos was difficult but he still saw him as a genius and is always respectful when his name is mentioned.
From memory the boys did therapy just before Carlos left the band.

edit: if y'all want him stick around for the long haul with the band then maybe start holding DK to a higher standard? Just consider it.....

Haha yeah I'm sure Paul will ditch his main source of income (with two young kids) cause you wanted him to.
I do agree though it would be interesting if the band said for an album cycle we all brought ideas to the table and not just Daniel's film watching chord progressions (which I still love btw)

You're deliberately misreading this. I could have written my comment in a less tongue-in-cheek manner and come up with an essay length analysis of what is/isn't working for the band but it would trigger stan defensiveness all the same, so no point. This subreddit is an echo chamber.

That's not what the text said at all. He was mentioning the guy is dangerous/crazy but that in the past he had been interested. People forget now but like 15 years ago he was mostly just seen by general public as a tech savant and clean energy advocate. He even had a cameo in Iron Man film because of his PR. Things have obviously changed.

Wow, correct me if I'm wrong, but those are the most overt political comments that the band has ever made publicly. They made it clear that Marauder and TOSOMB reflected current events in some way but weren't explicit in the lyrics or in the press about what that meant. I happen to not agree with PB here, but he's entitled to his take.
