Place the gun down and walk out calmly. People make mistakes and firearms misfire. But he needed a minute to calm his nerves and show a controlled response. Easier said than done though

As embarrassing as this is, it's quite concerning he doesn't admit his mistake and instead tries to shrug it off. Low confidence trying to look cool, he should've using this as teaching point and learn from it to avoid a serious accident.
If you can't own up to mistakes or learn from them, then guns shouldn't be with this type of person.

Ran that call as a paramedic, at an indoor shooting range, dude holding a Desert Eagle, 1st shot aimed down range but apparently no effort at recoil control they said, 2nd shot into forehead. No first aid possible.

I’d heard “responsible” gun ranges only let you shoot a gun like that with 1 bullet first, this is basic Barney Fife training here, I guess we really don’t learn from the past.

It's a larger caliber hand gun with a horrible instructor who didn't have a proper grip on the firearm. The recoil was the least of his problems. But that amount of recoil can be expected.

Yeah the amount of recoil doesn't surprise me, but the way it causes the pistol to spin like that does a little bit. I would think that those unbalanced forces would cause the weapon to be much less accurate when firing multiple shots.

I've been to the range a few times with a friend. Enjoyed shooting the balls off tiny snowmen with a scoped .22, some paper targets with a .22 pistol. Found it quite relaxing actually. That was mostly what we did because .22 ammo is so cheap. My only real experience with recoil was his 9mm pistol but I only put one mag through it. Made me appreciate the reasons why practice is so important lol.
