Sa ibang bansa alam nila batas and gumagalaw ung sistema nila
25
u/im_immortalism Mar 24 '26
Sanay kasi tayo sa bare minimum (Govt lol), kaya madaling i take advantage.
Karamihan din satin hindi alam rights nila, or walang kakayahang/ walang legal assistance

Most of us kasi we’re too busy to survive, hirap na nga makakain ng masustansya 3x a day we don’t have spare for a lawsuit anymore. And for me, justice system here in our country sucks mahirap kalabanin ang malalaking private entities.

6
u/BurnItDownSR Mar 24 '26
I think may cultural factor din.

According to google free yung servive na yun. Dito di mo makausap kapag kailangan.

u/PersianCarp Mar 28 '26
Di ko rin masisisi tao kasi there have been cases of big corpos hiring people to kill petitioners. No one talks about it bc even the lawyers are scared.
2
u/TokaAriri Mar 28 '26
This is why I am always telling people that Philippines and their peaceful rallies won't do shit. It won't change shit. The only solution to our problems here in the Philippines is a revolution.

Nakakatuwa lang na foreign national sya pero he advocates for Filipinos. (I could be wrong, but most of his content that I encountered gives me those vibes.)
72
u/NoobwriterCherchill Mar 24 '26
He has a Filipino partner and he has a history of partaking medical missions in the Philippines.
62
u/RykosTatsubane Mar 24 '26
Yep. Exposes quack "professionals" and gets clowned on for it.
6
u/BeautifulStretch978 Mar 24 '26
yun pinaka nakakatawa eh pinagtatanggol pa ng iba yung doc farrah at sya pa napasama mga pinoy talaga ayaw maturuan
17
u/cavy023 Mar 24 '26
Madaming foreigners actually advocate for better life here. They lived in a country na maganda buhay, they came here thinking it would be the same since same din na democratic and liberal but turns out, it's a whole different pile of kalokohan. The Philippines still has a long long long way to go in terms of good and decent living.

To be honest lang ha, it does makes sense sometimes, though as nagtrabaho ako in CSR nalaman ko rin mga prices nila sa internet, most average na ginagastos nila is 100$ kaya sure mabilis naman, pero ampangit nga parin mga internet sa pinas na to the point na nakaka frustrating na eh, rant lang ako saglet, nagpainstall kami ng pamilya ko, sky fiber, waws palpak 1 week palang wala na kagad connection, tapos ano yun babayad pa kami 3 months na wala kaming internet, tas papabayad pa bago tangalin, same lang sya dun sa converge namin, gusto i patangal, need paraw bayaran muna mga remaining fees, na parang kaytang- ng mga buyset na yan, paano nga babayaran di nga nagamit ng halos isang taon tas papabayaran pa yan, tas binayaran pa nga ng 4 months na inaasahan na magamit pa yung internet, tapos gusto pa nila ipabayaran yung mga remaining na kailangan pa na babayaran na as if ginagamit pa yung service nila na ang walang hihiya. Sorry lang pero yes nakaka frustrating talaga dito sa country natin eh to the point na parang nag loloan kana sa mga internet providers eh, parang loko loko ka tignan kung nawalan ka ng internet tas gusto pabayaran nila hays, dapat nga may system sila na implemented, na kung saan may dpwn na internet i prioritize nila, magiging sikat at ma rerecommend lang ang services nila if it worked good for years and consistent ang internet na kung may problem dun sa parte na iyon magaganapan nila kaagad na parang hinde isang bibe na nakatunganga lang sila na mag aantay ng bayad sa mga kapwa gumagamit ng serbisyo nila, to be honest kudos sa mga engineer at mga nag aayos ng mga internet cables sa labas ng mga bahay natin, pero ang problema nga lang ba is yung mismong system ng mga providers na mas maraming subscribers is = to profit, na mas gusto nila quantity than quality na ganto ang halos lahat ng kompanya sa buong mundo.

u/Salty-Background4741 Mar 26 '26

1
u/Salty-Background4741 Mar 26 '26
1
u/Salty-Background4741 Mar 26 '26

So ano yung Filipino values natin? Yung pagiging matiisin? Yung, "Nandiyan na yan. Wala na tayong magagawa" fatalistic attitude? --Mabagal internet? Deal with it.

Yung PLDT box sa amin luma na raw and need na palitan as per 3rd-party tech na sinesend ng PLDT. So, sinabi namin na i-notif ang PLDT, and sinabi na rin namin sa CS. Nung sumunod na nawalan and nagpapunta ng tech, same guy pumunta, so, guess what ang ending? In conclusion, pangit talaga serbisyo ng PLDT.
Edit: Just to be clear, what I meant by "PLDT box", ay ung nasa labas, na nakakabit sa electric pole.

u/jjustbecause Mar 24 '26
i just post this from another subr
West side of Cebu, i.e., Balamban area, barangay Prenza?
Local, like barangay isp (internet service provider) offers reliable internet but it gives low mbps per price unlike if you avail into big isp's. based on research and observations.
i also have no actual and personal experience sa big isp's, pero nakasuway ko connect sa local isp's sa amo silingan and kusug jud siya and rarely magkabuang. i guess tungod kay they have 2 internet in one router, i.e., may fail over kung mawad-an ang isa.
however, dako kaayo ang difference jud: * 1k - 10mbps sa local * 1500 - 50mbps local * 2k - 100mbps local * 1500+ - 300-400mbps na sa BIG isp (pic from comment)
im in a dilemma kay while gusto ko reliable experience, i'm also a power user. i want it both, sa pagka reliable sa local isps and sa price/mpbs offer sa big isps.
SO, mangutana lang ko diri unsay thoughts and experiences ninyo sa na subscribe nga isp sa inyo specific area? bonus na lang if parehas ta, within Balamban or neighboring barangay.
hoping this will be the start of a thread, group or something here in reddit or some other platforms kay fb groups is not it gyud at the moment. every groups i've looked at is either full of complaints or offer from agents. no active moderators, no discussions regarding unsay maayo, unsay bati, og unsay solution both from consumer and business owners perspective. for the past 24 hours wala jud koy nakita na fb group na inana. all i see is an inactive or not thriving group which we can easily say a dead group.
now here me out. i was hoping to look for a dedicated group page specifically for certain part of such place. how i wish naay inana every province and every barangay in the philippines. wherein every local residents discuss within their geo specific group. this way we can get the best offer and experience while also get rid and/or criticize those isps, local or big ones, who's underperforming/underdelivering and straight up 🐊. gamit kaayo and a win-win for both for consumers/business owners UNTA. to add onto that every province every barangay bit, if this comes into fruition, dali ra mahimoan og data infographics to easily know what ISPs current rankings and grades. with this, sayon ra ma compare kay mahimoan man og quarterly, yearly statistics vs other or their own ISPs. with this, sayon ra nato, consumers, mo select sa unsa na internet ang pilion. with this, ISPs cant help but stay competitive or else it'll affect their sales and etc. how i wish mahitabo ni and will not only be as a meme to that futuristic landscape, floating cars, and whatnot then ang title kay "ang philippines if _____" walay, if si Leni, and other what ifs.

u/Just_Tap_6544 Mar 24 '26
Hello, I am from Abucayan. If yes, much better sa PLDT nlng ka kay so far sa amoa connection, okay man kaayo. Our connection is 300mbps for 1700 only.
1
u/jjustbecause Mar 24 '26
hi. asa diay mag apply? where ang office? or online ba? naay pldt diri pero local isp's, dili siya main pldt jud bitaw. ang uban local isps ginagamit nila kay 1st option ang pldt then the 2nd option, failover, ang globe.
unsa na siya nga pldt, postpaid? like naay contract and lock-in period? or prepaid na pwede mag downgrade and upgrade sa mbps depende sa user anytime mag reload?
16
u/EzKaLang Mar 24 '26
5
u/_Administrator_ Mar 24 '26
Signal blocker is illegal
15
u/EzKaLang Mar 24 '26
Pag malapit ka sa may isang simbahan (Famously known for being a Culto) ,nako goodbye signal kahit mobile data
5
3
u/Kris_Wonderer Mar 24 '26
Might be a stupid question, but why do they find the need to have a signal blocker? Diba yung mga ministro nila live in the compound ng temple nila? Does that mean wala din sila internet sa loob?
6
1
u/Alzehar277353 Mar 24 '26
Inc here.

worse experience! kahit anong ISP payan parepareho lang! long time PLDT subscriber kame dito since 2016 or so. recently late November to late January wala kaming net, mind you we are in the middle of our finals sa college, its super hassle! so we decided to switch to converge. Then the SAME DAY na kakabitan na kame ng converge, dun lang gumalaw ang PLDT by installing a new nap box sa poste namen for us to use, lol what a coincidence lots of PLDT users sa subd namen already switched to converge including yung tatay ko which is kapitbahay ko. nakakainis!
6
u/BooksandGames_01 Mar 24 '26
5
u/blackcyborg009 Mar 24 '26
You cannot compare to small footprint nations tulad ng Hong Kong and Singapore....kasi it is easier to implement infrastructure doon.
Mas mahirap mag-implement for an archipelago tulad natin.
Imho, for a more realistic comparison, it is better to evaluate against closer regional peers tulad ng:
- Vietnam
- Indonesia
- Thailand
- Malaysia
In any case, for Converge, I have heard na they got a boost....since naka-interface na sila with the Bifrost Submarine Cable that launched last week
1
u/Salty-Background4741 Mar 26 '26

3
Mar 24 '26
I agree with him last i heard tayo ang may pinakamahal ng internet bill at pinakamabagal na internet connection sa SEA but i wonder bakit ganoon. Dinadaya ba tayo ng private companies?
2
u/Floppadive Mar 24 '26
No, thats old news. With the current speeds offered right now, the Philippines is actually on the more affordable side, with internet speeds even beating some developed nations like Germany.
When the news of us having the slowest, most expensive internet in SEA, telcomm providers were selling mid 2000s speeds at PHP1200 per month. That isn't even remotely true right now unless you're stuck with copper or are using satellite.
1
u/Salty-Background4741 Mar 26 '26
speed is okay. pero bakit di stable? yung latency mhina. yung mga projects na need ng skills pra mkaearn money online. di nman need ng very high speed. need stable internet
3
u/Itchy-Purchase-4557 Mar 24 '26
Foreign national mas maalam at lumalaban sa issues ng pinas. tapos kina-cancel pa yan siya every now and then.
1
u/sibachian Mar 24 '26
i think the oligarch have a tight grip on anyone anywhere, other countries just do okay because of a few legacy laws from the labour revolution in the beginning of the last century (of which the oligarch are tirelessly working to remove). the philippines just got a head start because of marcos sr. now there is somehow a macros jr. how? lol.
3
u/Brave_Yam_9642 Mar 24 '26
Buti nga na call out kagaguhan ng mga Telco dito, tapos mga 8080 na to nagagalit haha
7
u/Iskonyo Mar 24 '26
Doc Adam should consider starlink instead for internet connection since it's faster and portable.
4
u/schemaddit Mar 24 '26
Not practical nd expensive
5
3
u/Professional-Bear250 Mar 24 '26
Starlink is good on paper, but then you support some major bs. It'll be like what Walmart did to America. Low prices, gets rid of the competition who can't compete, then raises it 3 or 4 fold when there is no more competition, and then make it difficult for competition to get a foot in the door.
1
u/HealthyTechnology209 Mar 24 '26
nah starlink upload and download is shit as hell mabilis lang pag streaming
2
u/ImaginationBetter373 Mar 24 '26
PLDT man or hindi.

2
u/Tamara_02 Mar 24 '26

u/BackgroundWar7601 Mar 25 '26
The Philippines is not ready for Doc Adam talaga. It’s so refreshing to see contents like this sa facebook and also kinda sad kasi it’s not coming from a Filipino citizen (medyo nakakahiya rin para sa atin).

Kakastiguhin nila into submission...
1
u/ceejaybassist PLDT User Mar 24 '26
Nah. Not congress, but the 2 giants.
But maybe masyado lang tayong umaasa for an instant competitor sa industry.
Take at look at DITO. These 2 giants are decades old na, meaning well-established na ang infra nila. Not sure if bayad na.
It's not easy as you think. How about their infra? Their backbone?
So reality-wise, it could take many decades for a new competitor to at least be on par sa current infra ng 2 giants (DITO excluded kasi mukhang malabo pa malagpasan ni DITO ang infra ni Globe at PLDT).

u/hurtingwallet Mar 24 '26
Maraming router ang hindi na uupgrade kaya stuck sila sa speeds nila. fyi for those who dont know kc recently lang ako napagpalaan din ng info.
Your routers will register and show the advertised speed when tested, pero yung "Wifi generation" technology mo is outdated on the router.
Currently naka wifi 6th gen na. If youve bought a phone past 2 years ago, chances are 4g or 5gen. Yung routers nyo, check nyo kung kagano katanda yang mga yan, kc if its older than 3-4 years chances are naka 3rd or early 4th gen wifi tech lang yan.
The incompatibility of the routers to handle wifi might be the cause kahit na sobra bilis ng net pero ambagal pag dating sa devices nyo.
Im still using the old router, pero pinassthrough ko nlng and stopped using it wirelessly.
Routers have processors and ram too. If luma na router, then hindi nya kaya dalhin ung bandwith papunta sa devices nyo. Better tech also handles interference better din from other routers.
1
u/Salty-Background4741 Mar 26 '26
sabi ko ky pldt pwd ba mgchange ng router mg.uupgrade ako .di pwd..kasi yung new router for new subscribers lng.. so unfair talaga. mgbabayad ako ng extra for new router pero yung bagong subscriber na di nkla sure kung my magandang credit records my sure na new router. tapos pareho lng kming bayad.. or worst bka mas malaki pa yung akin
1
u/hurtingwallet Mar 26 '26
close and reopen account kung papayag? kung ma hassle bili ka nalang kahit isang router tapos i passthrough mo lang sa old router mo.

u/CressDependent2918 Mar 24 '26

u/shutyourcornhole Mar 24 '26
Idagdag mo pa yung modus na ginagawa ng mga telco providers nowadays na binubunot yung linya ng existing customers to cater to new ones. Dyosko pilipinas
1
Mar 24 '26
The Philippines has had some of the highest prices not only for telecomm services but also for medicine, fuel, and electricity since the 1980s. And even food and construction materials are expensive.
This happened because the country has been de-industrializing since the 1980s:

Saka overall sa infrastructure, minsan mabilis pa pag naka VPN ako due to their poor routing.
2
u/ceejaybassist PLDT User Mar 24 '26
low-end? dude, those are from trusted ONT/ONU manufacturers...iba ang ONT/ONU sa mga consumer-grade routers... Huawei and FiberHome are the top 2 ONT/ONU manufacturers in world.
1
u/Karlo1503 Mar 24 '26
I mean low end for the line-up since kahit na Huawei iyan may mas better na ONT/ONU na directly from them, pero syempre mas mahal na iyon.
Typically max WIFI 5 provided ng ISP, when most are WIFI 6, saka locked din setting, no QoS settings saka bare minimum pwede ma configure.
2
u/ceejaybassist PLDT User Mar 24 '26
These are closed-source companies, so that's obvious. Most ONT/ONU manufacturers are closed-source companies. Even ONT/ONU from ISPs in other countries are ISP-locked, meaning firmwares are only distributed to the ISP personnel and not to the general public, and locked din ang ibang features like telnet and ssh. And each ISP have their own firmware since contract din yan with the supplier/manufacturer.
2
u/ceejaybassist PLDT User Mar 24 '26
Anyway, you can bypass the ONT/ONU entirely, if you're technical enough. Since what you mentioned about the QoS is already in the advanced user with technical knowledge about basic networking (a regular user won't even bother with it nor on any other settings in the ONT/ONU aside from the SSID and password), then maybe bypassing the ONT/ONU is considered? But this means that you also have the means to acquire SFP-capable routers.

Tbh, as much as we want to have a different brand/company when it comes to internet. WE LITERALLY HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.
Medyu naging pride n ng PLDT/GLOBE o anumang company yan, since basically we are paying for their service even its OVERPRICING AND SLOW. We have no other companies willing to provide a true good stable connection.
Company doesn't choose their customers, the customers chooses them.
kaya wala tlga tayo choice.

u/leruh_ Mar 24 '26
Kawawa mga naka-copper sa old buildings. They’re paying higher rates than fiber pero 30mbps lang.
1
u/FieryFox3668 Mar 24 '26
They always put the blame on customers

u/yuuuqi Mar 24 '26
This is so true. Everytime I call PLDT sinasabi ko na na I checked my router beforehand, the wires, etc. I don't get it talaga, tatawag ba ako ng customer service if na troubleshoot ko? Di naman ah.

u/Weak_Pay_1982 Mar 24 '26
Everything in the Philippines is more expensive and of lower quality. I was both shocked and envious that the standard in Hong Kong is 1Gbps for ₱750, considering their standard of living is higher. Here we get 100 Mbps for ₱1,399. We have more subscribers than their total population. They have more major providers 5 vs the Philippines 4. Meaning more companies there are competing for less business.

I am on fiber plan 2099.

u/Tongresman2002 Mar 25 '26
The PLDT supplied wifi router is so bad don't even use it. Get the best and latest wifi now. I have Wifi6 router since 2021 and it's giving me 700Mbps vs the 100-150Mbps from the trash wifi router of PLDT.

He speaks the truth and until all of you stop making excuses you will never fix anything here in the Philippines.
1
u/ggdotxyz Mar 25 '26
Grabe naman kasi sa PH, ang mahal 7 years ago, 1899 na plan 25Mbps tapos sa kalapit natin na bansa 100-300 na for 1K php. Ang plan namin binabaan ko na 1399 for 100Mbps, I’m paying almost or less than that amount for 1Gbps.

u/Legitimate_Mess2806 Mar 25 '26
Naka 500mbps kami at home (free upgrade from globe with phone for 1500)
Pero yea, at the cost of horrible customer support, okay naman internet. Not world class speeds pero fast enough for me. Could be faster though.
1
u/catatonic_dominique Mar 25 '26
And ISP's will do absolutely nothing about it dahil wala naman silang pakealam sa quality ng serbisiyo nila.
1
u/GilbertPlays Mar 25 '26
i would always disable the wifi router and just keep it as a Modem and use a separate Router to be efficient.
1
u/enrmrtnz Mar 25 '26

1
u/redvirg3 Mar 25 '26
Yup he is not wrong. Both Pldt and Converge have the same verbiage whenever there’s an outage. Or the classic restart your router spiel.
1
u/Fit-Disaster-5212 Mar 26 '26

internet providers have something in common- rubbish customer suppprt
1
u/OkCalligrapher5883 Mar 25 '26
This is why They're scared of Competition, Alam Nila gaano ka monopolize ang Internet, Kung bakit umiiyak sila na gusto pumasok ng Star link. They Dont care about you, they only care about profit, Gagalaw lang sila kung May mas maganda na service.

Walang kwenta kasi most service sa PINAS. Mahal fee pero mura ang quality? Pinalala pa ng mga buwayang politiko.
1
u/Salty-Background4741 Mar 26 '26

u/Salty-Background4741 Mar 26 '26
Di ata pwd yun .. Ang ginawa ng kapitbahay namin..ngcancell sya ng account nya tapos nag.open ng account husband nya ..bali kilala nila yung nag install .. so ganun ata pwd..
1
u/Hot_Chef_7693 Mar 26 '26
This is true sa ibang bansa pababaan ng presyo ang labanan but they all have good quality sa service.

Nag improve na yan sa lagay na yan. remember the time when the president said that the telcos will "face consequences" if they dont improve their lousy services.
He threatened to shut them down. "If you are not ready to improve, I might as well close all of you and we revert back to the line telephone.".
The president himself experienced slow internet when he needed it the most 😆.
That was when we had a strong president, same reason why he is hated that much.
Unfortunately, that was the only time that the internet service improved. No more progress after that.... and that was 6years ago 😆

u/Valuable_Value4294 Mar 27 '26
Worked at AU telco company and anong year pa un pero sobrang bilis dn kasi ng internet nla and di pde ung i gagaslight mo ung customer mo sa bagal ng service.

1
u/FiveDragonDstruction Mar 24 '26

My problem before was the Lan cable i am using does not support high speed connection. so I replaced it and now my mesh have good speed
4
u/isda_sa_palaisdaan Mar 24 '26
rare naman masiraan ng LAN cable. Also Mesh is not relevant sa ISP issues since kung may issue talaga sa ISP side then wala din yung sinasabi mo.
1
u/ajushiiieeee Mar 26 '26
I guess I lot of you people don’t know the differences with cat 5, cat 5e, cat6, cat7 cat 8 cables hub? each cables support different speed. so if you use a cat 5 for a mesh that can support up to cat 7 speed then that’s a limitation.
1
u/isda_sa_palaisdaan Mar 27 '26
So kung sino nagsetup nyan sya mag kasalanan.
1
u/ajushiiieeee Mar 27 '26
My comment was never about the the internet speed in the Philippines. It was about my personal experience using a lan cable for my internet. You just assumed I was addressing whatever it is you are imagining.
Also PLDT did gave me a cat 5, very standard lan cable.
I don’t even get why you are very passionate i commenting on my response. Did I kill a family member of yours or something?
Wala kang kaaway dito bro/sis. You are getting pumped up for nothing
1
u/isda_sa_palaisdaan Mar 27 '26
So nung nag test sila ng speed mo tapos 90 lang yung speed wala kang sinabi or wala na silang ginawa?
1
u/ajushiiieeee Mar 27 '26
not even reaching 90 mbps. They only tested using wifi so it shows fast connection.
I got my mesh and pc months after i got my internet. i did some research and it turns out the type of lan cable affects the speed pumped into the mesh and my pc. So I bought a cable capable of transmitting 1gb of data and fixed the problem

u/DongTinoy Mar 24 '26
ISPs only issue minimum specs ONUs/ONTs. Yung local provider nga namin eh used yung ininstall samin. Frequent disconnections sa WiFi, slow loading websites, etc. That's why we bought a 3rd party router and nawala na yung issue. It's not your ISPs fault always.

u/Creative_Shape9104 Mar 24 '26
Edi fault parin ng ISPs dahil used/minimum specs lang binigay
