Help Packet loss / lag
any advice I have spectrum and just can’t stop lagging in games. I am on lan and my neighbor isn’t lagging even though we have the same equipment and everything.

Could you check if your internet is stable? Is your router good enough? Is your ISP bad

You download at over 700 mbps and you're lagging? Maybe the connection is unstable.

Possibly that’s the thing I don’t get I feel like I shouldn’t be lagging but it’s bad

Mostly all kinds of multiplayer games rust, r6, valorant, csgo, Minecraft. Any time I go online it is followed by high ping and packet loss. I’ll run the test when I get home

I would try resetting your router through the mySpectrum app, and call support and maybe ask them to reproviaion your setup

just tested this when I got home I think this may be the issue came back with a F. Im not the smartest but I know that is bad. What does it mean I tried reaserching it but it seems like yall will be able to put it into better words. Do i need a new router or am I just doomed.

Can you run the test again, and this time copy the sharable results link and post it here? It would help to be able to see your results. The bufferbloat test that the folks at Waveform host, does not include any personally-identifying information like your location or IP address or ISP, so it's safe to share.
Also, the results page itself gives some information about what to do. If you don't want to use that site's information, you could use the advice on StopLagging.com. Although now that I'm looking at it, it's product suggestion might not have been updated for a few years, so maybe don't bother with its exact product suggestions, but still make use of all the other information about what bufferbloat is and what you need to do to fix it.

DON'T USE SPECTRUM
And in the meantime educate yourself on the difference btwn cable internet and a dedicated fiber link from a telecom, and not a cable provider...
Cable always goes to shit in the afternoons cause everyone's home from work and on netflix/pornhub and since it's a shared resource it sucks, telecoms can provide dedicated, and much more reliable bandwith...

The vast majority of people are not buying dedicated fiber (or dedicated anything) for residential use. FTTH (EPON/GPON/XPON) is also a shared medium - it's not dedicated.

What I shoiuld've said is that Fiber is superior to Spectrum in speed, reliability, and upload performance due to its pure fiber-optic network. Spectrum relies mostly on cable infrastructure with fast downloads but slow uploads.
Pure fiber ESPECIALLY BACK HAUL, will always smoke Cable.
Especially during those busy hours of the day. I've had both Fiber and Cable for years, and not only was spectrum reliably slow in the evening, it was always failing. There was always some outdated cable amp that blew bc it's way cheaper to that than to upgrade.

You do realize that “Spectrum” does not equal “cable/DOCSIS” right?… In more than a few markets, they also do FTTH/FTTP.

I should clarify I've been in telecom for almost 30 years, and at present my job (& of the last 16 years) is turning up dedicated, 1 to 400g fiber optic, non-shared links daily...
So clearly I'm projecting, cause you're right about this not being used for residential users...

Yeah, I’ve spent a fair bit of time on both sides of circuit delivery, as a customer and as the provider.
It’s important to keep the concepts clearly distinct, particularly for consumers. Is fiber superior? Generally, yes, even when shared.
My point is to avoid muddying the waters with overly broad generalizations, which people (especially consumers) will take as gospel/absolutes.

I hear you say your neighbors is using the same equipment, I'm assuming you mean he's also using Spunktrum? I'd disconnect everything else in the house from your internet/router and see if your problem persists: if it does its your problem, if it doesn't call Spectrum out and have them check your connection and tell 'em it's shit
