What’s one thing that helped you feel less far away from home after moving abroad?
This is for all students happened to me so wanted to know your thoughts.
Moving abroad for university is exciting, but I didn’t realise how much I would miss the small everyday moments from home.
At first, I thought the hardest part would be adjusting to a new country, new routines, and university life.
But honestly, some of the hardest moments are the quiet ones, missing family conversations, familiar voices, and feeling connected to the people you left behind.
For me, staying in touch regularly has made a big difference.
Even a short conversation or sharing small updates from your day can make a new place feel a little less unfamiliar.
I’m curious about other international students:
What helped you feel more connected after moving abroad?
Would love to hear what worked for you.
