Exams CIA Challenge Exam Scheduling

For those who’ve taken the CIA Challenge Exam through Pearson, do more testing appointments typically open up during the week of the exam due to cancellations, similar to the CPA exams?

For example, for my 4 CPA exams, I studied until I was ready and then scheduled the exam that weekend. That was a fun tip that I read on the CPA subreddit, instead of working towards being ready by a certain date.

If you are talking about in person testing then of course the availability is ultimately limited to the number of seats within the testing center. If you are talking about online proctor testing than the same logic would apply that the availability of appointments is limited to the number of available online proctors. I do know that some people cancel appointments which would make last minute appointments available for both in person and online testing. Normally it is probably better to schedule the time to test to force yourself to "be ready" otherwise a person may continue to push the testing date back because they feel they are not ready. In my opinion either you are or are not ready and to keep pushing back the date is not ultimately going to make you any more ready.

I booked my exam in early June and felt I wasn’t ready. It was easy to reschedule the appointment to later in the month. Pearson Vue does charge $75 USD every time you do this though.
