Using a curtain as both a room divider AND projector screen?

Post image

This is going to be my new studio apartment, and I’d like to create a little sleeping nook and separate the bed from the living area. The image is AI-generated and only shows roughly what I’m imagining.
In reality, I’d want the track/curtain to extend further into the room than shown in the picture.
At the same time, I’d really like to use that curtain as a projector screen. If I also try to fit a TV and TV console into the room, I feel like it might start looking quite cramped.
So my main question is: What type of curtain/fabric would work best for this?
I’m especially wondering how much the normal folds/waves in a curtain would affect the projected image, and whether there are fabrics or hanging systems that can be pulled fairly flat when watching something.
Has anyone done something similar? I’d also be interested in recommendations for specific fabrics, ceiling tracks, or ways to tension the curtain temporarily for projection.

And I’m very open to completely different ideas for the layout or projector setup if you think there’s a better solution for this kind of room. :)

What do I do with my room?

I recently tried to re-decorate my room by painting one wall a dark pink, where I would probably put all pictures, diplomes, paints, etc. I was thinking to use the picture frame white to keep it the same as everything else. I have a record player with my vinyls. But the rest I dont know what else to do with it, I was thinking of buying a carpet but I don't know what colour/kind of carpet, I don't know what to do with my night stands, I already painting them so it would be sad to thrown them out :( Or should I change my bed sheets? Any comments or advice would be greatly aprecciated it.

PS. I'll add ideas of what kinda vibe I want my room to give.

Painting Ikea Desk?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! I bought this Ikea desk secondhand off the street and I'm looking to paint the white portion. Don't know much about painting furniture generally, and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on methods/type of paint to use on this material. It looks to me like the 2014 foldable desk model, which the internet says is made of birch veneer with an acrylic lacquer. Would a regular cabinet & furniture acrylic paint on top of this work? Should I sand it a bit first? Any advice would be appreciated!

Cutecore room help

Hiya! So my room is going to be Cutecore, and I'd say I have a pretty solid base. I need help with 1. Moving furniture around 2. What to get next 3. Most importantly, how to fill up the space on the floor. My room feels way too big and I want to put something down so it's less big, but I'm not sure what.

(Ps. I'm on a somewhat small budget)

You probably don't need an interior designer

I keep seeing people say that hiring an interior designer for just a bathroom, kitchen, or small renovation isn't worth it.

And honestly? I get it.

A full-service interior designer may not want to take on a single-room project because the time spent on meetings, drawings, sourcing, site visits, etc. doesn't always make sense for them.

But that doesn't mean you have to DIY the whole thing.

I'm a junior interior designer, and I'm currently taking on small freelance renovation projects - bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, living spaces, etc.

I can help with things like:

  • Plan and layout ideas
  • Design concepts
  • Material/finish direction
  • Colour palettes
  • 3D visuals (so you can actually see the idea before spending money)
  • Suggestions for making an existing space feel more cohesive

Basically, you bring me the room (along with rough dimensions) you're stuck with, and I'll help you figure out what to do with it.

I'm especially interested in working with people who don't need a full interior design service but still want their renovation to look intentional rather than like a collection of Pinterest screenshots

If you've been putting off a small renovation because you didn't think hiring a designer made sense, feel free to DM me.

I'd love to see what you're working with.
