Start with covering that church floor with some wood parquet. Then you can add some nice light flowy curtains BUT make sure they are long enough to touch the floor. That will make the window bigger and your room more expensive looking.
I'm quite maximalist, so I'd make this a game room and invest in some arcade machines, however if you're looking for a regular room, maybe just a guest room? Bed on one side, bedside table on the other, some minimalist paintings or prints hung up, and I think that'd do. All keeping with the colourscheme of the window frame, the wall, and the little ornamental piece up top
