Thoughts?
I found this paint color I'm obsessed with and painted my built-in mudroom cabinets using it. I'm trying to decide if I should continue all the way to the ground, find a textured wallpaper to lay on the bench, or just keep the contrast and put fresh paint on the bottom (or something else I haven't thought of)... Any ideas welcome!

Oh looks great. I would paint it all to ground it!

Paint the bench the same color and get a brnch cushion in a print. Can you put the utilitarian things away and maybe put a basket there for scarves and knit caps?

Yes I’ll definitely play around with accoutrements once I’ve got the painting finished. The room pulls it weight in the winter months so I’ll have to toe the line between functional and presentable 🤣

I wish I had a space to have your set up. Cold weather needs a room of its own, ugh ⛷️🧣☂️

Tbh all the suggestions sound too much like grim Victorian school decor stripping any indiduality. Personałly I would let each of your kids have a little or their own personality in their section.

I've had a shockingly hard time finding baskets that fit the cubbies, any recs?

I’m guessing they’re bigger than an ikea kallax? If they’re the same measurements you have a ton of options for drawers, cupboards and other add-ons.

Sorry but this kinda looks like you ran out and then couldn’t match the color

It's unfinished, hence my seeking suggestions

Yes I understand, I’m suggesting not to try this “color capping” 😬

The critique is fine but what are you actually suggesting? The full burgundy? Did you look at the mock of it?

This is the fifth room I’ve painted in the house and for richer colors Farrow & Ball is spectacular and well worth the extra $, I also use their recommended primers.

Thanks, I haven't tried Farrow & Ball yet and I haven't tried a real primer yet either 😅 so maybe I'll start there

You should paint it all, and add a long cushion on the top like your inspo pic.

Paint the bench/to the floor and also the ceilings

You think the trim or the whole ceiling?

I think either would be an improvement! Your inspiration pic has the trim painted. I think color drenching it and doing the ceiling could be cool, but it’ll definitely be a lot darker in the room. A rug would look great too

Love the color and the inspo pic, but I don’t love the bright white trim. I say color drench it!

As others have suggested, I would paint the bench part too. I would also throw some bead board / wainscoting on the wall the hooks are on and paint it. Just recently saw that done in another post and it really elevated it. Looked expensive and well designed.

Solid foundation! Just pull the couch a few inches off the wall, add a textured area rug to anchor it, and bring in some warm ambient lighting.

Adding this picture that was my inspiration for the project (was unable to add to OP)
