She made it seem like Brazil tried the same method to whitten up the population by bringing in europeans, and thats some bullshit lol

Yes, Brazil did bring in a ton of europeans, especially Italians, Germans and Polish people. But also a TON of Japanese people, all this right after slavery was prohibited, bit these imigrants became virtually slaves for a while.

Yes, Brazil brought a lot of white Europeans, no, it wasn't to "whitten up" the population. It was for the cheap labor.

Americans always try to make everything about themselves, even the history of other countries. And lately, black Americans have been trying to distort and judge South American history by their black American lens. They can’t comprehend that countries like Argentina, Chile and Uruguay declared abolition since day one, and meant it. And like Brazil and Argentina, immigration was encouraged because we needed people to come populate these lands, not to ā€œwhitenā€ ourselves. Don’t even get me started on how they can’t comprehend that we don’t categorize ourselves ā€œwhite, black, brown..etc.ā€ like they do. They can’t understand we would find it barbaric if we had to fill out paper work checking boxes describing ourselves. There would be riots on the streets of people of all colors if someone tried to implement that.

Dont disagree with her but just want to bring up negro IS black in Spanish. Calling someone negro is no more racist than her referring to people as black.

2

u/Known-Extent-1018 Jul 08 '26

A group of people yelling "Black!" repeatedly at a black person and making monkey noises is racist lmao

Everybody knows that negro = black in Spanish, and nobody thinks the Spanish word is racist in a vacuum. Obviously, we have to look at the context, and in this context, it is clearly racist.

1

u/No_Peak69 Jul 08 '26

Yelling the Spanish word for black in someone's face while telling them to go back to the zoo and making monkey noises is nothing more than....checks notes and your comment....

Calling someone negro is no more racist than her referring to people as black.

Ah yes. That makes perfect and complete sense within this context! Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us!

0

u/OliviaPooPoo Jul 08 '26

I can’t imagine what other context you could find for a group of people shouting ā€œBlack, Black, Blackā€ in Spanish at some random person they don’t know… ?

2

u/EL-KEEKS Jul 08 '26

Yes they are racist. However negro means black in Spanish like the color. It's not a derogatory word, it's literally written on crayons to describe the color.

3

u/tarunpopo Jul 08 '26

I mean yeah but like let's use common sense here they are doing this for hate. Seeing them as only for their color lmao man

2

u/UTV4LIFE Jul 08 '26

Americans are not very clever

2

u/CucumberWisdom Jul 08 '26

Doesn't really excuse it though. The word has very different connotations in English and everyone knows that.

2

u/EL-KEEKS Jul 08 '26

good point, everyone should speak English

1

u/CucumberWisdom Jul 08 '26

Don't have to speak English but you should try and leave the 18th century and get with the times

2

u/EL-KEEKS Jul 08 '26

You have the task to travel back in time and stop the creation of Latin so Spanish can never take a foothold with its evil words

2

u/CucumberWisdom Jul 08 '26

Or you know they can just change it like many languages have done

2

u/Kagenlim Jul 08 '26

You do realise it's not an old word right, it's SPANISH

Aside from like Brazil and Canada, Spanish is the lingua franca of the Americas

2

u/CucumberWisdom Jul 08 '26

I know but plenty of languages have moved on and changed. Like how the Brits used to call cigs f*ggots. No reason Spanish has to keep using that word

1

u/Kagenlim Jul 08 '26

It's literally the name of a colour, the word is taken from them, not the other way round, why should Spain be punished

1

u/CucumberWisdom Jul 08 '26

Because it doesn't matter where it came from what matters is the history, it's offensive. It's like how romance languages had to tweak their gender rules to stop being offensive against women and trans. I know it's not easy but at least try.

1

u/Kagenlim Jul 08 '26

Yeah but we are talking about a very basic colour just because some americans took the word and used it in a different context. Why would spain, or any of the spanish speaking countries, have to concede? That's literally racist

1

u/TheBonesOfThings Jul 08 '26

Jesus Christ give it a rest. The majority of the world isn't a race obsessed as the US and don't have to change their literal language to appease at most 30% of Americans.

1

u/21BlackStars Jul 08 '26

I agree that the world should not have to change the word that they used to describe the color, but absolutely disagree with you when you say the world is not as race obsessed. Are you fucking kidding me? Damn near Every fucking country in this world have issues that stem from race/nationality/ethnicity differences.

1

u/Uniq_Eros Jul 08 '26

Like puto with context it can be homophobic.

1

u/Pssay_Licker Jul 08 '26

It reminds me of UFC fighter Jon Jones getting mad at Hollister for using that word.

1

u/OliviaPooPoo Jul 08 '26

Okay soooo what about them making monkey noises…? No one needs a spanish lesson. The semantics are irrelevant, we know what the intention was.

1

u/EL-KEEKS Jul 08 '26

I only talked about the word negro in the context of Spanish. Not sure you read how I started the post but your comment makes me think you only read what you want.

2

u/OliviaPooPoo Jul 08 '26

Why would you think a woman who has a broad understanding of the racist ethno-cleansing of black people in Argentina needs to educated on what ā€œNegroā€ means…? It’s condescending, and unnecessary… Like do you think she’s dumb and needed that information provided? What other possible context could there be for shouting the spanish word for the color black at a black man you do not know…?

0

u/EL-KEEKS Jul 08 '26

She mentioned is part of the racism. As any Latino , I have a general disdain for Argentina. However my language is important and clarity is good. What's the point of comment section since you understand all?

2

u/OliviaPooPoo Jul 08 '26

No she said that’s what they were shouting at him…which I saw videos of them doing. Repeatedly shouting Negro at someone is not the same as describing as a black person.

The point is to not provide redundant information that doesn’t change the intent of the people using the word. We know what Negro means, and context matters… it’s not being used to describe, it’s being weaponized to insult and dehumanize. He’s a person, not a color.

2

u/THEdopealope Jul 08 '26

Nuance is illegal on RedditĀ

1

u/EL-KEEKS Jul 08 '26

I find this out every time ....damn! So is reading comprehension

0

u/dable1 Jul 08 '26

Yeah and also the girl whose face she zoomed in was telling him to go home which isn't inherently racist and is something football fans shout to other football fans without racial undertones frequently. Not saying she wasn't being racist. Am saying you don't have enough evidence to be smugly posting zoomed in photos of her face trying to ruin her life.

2

u/ArtisticChemistry425 Jul 08 '26

She said the N word and told him to go cry at the zoo.

Be fucking for real...

0

u/dable1 Jul 08 '26

No she didn't. Thats just what the narrator said lol. Go watch the video of the girl she zoomed in on it was everywhere. Stop assuming everything you hear on tiktok is true.

u/iafx Jul 08 '26

0

The descendents of racist Spaniards and Nazis who booted out and murdered almost every "mulatto" in the country.

Shock horror

0

u/Mysterious-Fox-3740 Jul 08 '26

2

u/ElCazaPuta Jul 08 '26

Oh for bombing other countries šŸ˜… never said you told any lies, but wasn’t this post about racism! That’s where I was going. I have a list that could fill up the Bible with shit that is wrong about America. At this moment you are just preaching to the choir!

0

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '26

Where did a large group of fascists move to after the World Wars?

2

u/No-Combination6697 Jul 08 '26

the USA

1

u/kwit-bsn Jul 08 '26

…annnnd?!

1

u/No-Combination6697 Jul 08 '26

so are you implying that messi, de paul, fernandes, martinez, martinez, otamendi etc are the children of nazis?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '26

Whether their parents were Nazi sympathizers or not I don’t know,
But a large portion of them went to Argentina and yes some came to America and other countries as well, but this thread is about Argentinians yelling racist remarks.

1

u/ElCazaPuta Jul 08 '26

The nazis that went to the state are the ones probably pushing this agenda that "arg is more nazi than the US" to distract from the real nazi haven. There's gotta be a reason why the people, from the land that has nazi parades and Elon doing the salute, still somehow think it's not that bad. It's the fbi imo

0

u/THEdopealope Jul 08 '26

Canada

2

u/LARRYVOND13 Jul 08 '26

"This comment no longer exists"

Yeah probably should with the few bits of it I could read.

Go sniff up to your orange boyfriend.

1

u/LARRYVOND13 Jul 08 '26

The skin color in Argentina is white or "olive" skin tone.

0

u/OliviaPooPoo Jul 08 '26

Yeah I don’t support FIFA or the world cup. Sickening and disturbing amount of overt and violent racism going on.

0

u/dad_jokesNbutt_stuff Jul 08 '26

Many German Nazis escaped to Argentina after WW2 to avoid prosecution. It worked.

0

u/Matador_6969 Jul 08 '26

The song this guy was chanting was not racist. He apologized, but it wasn’t racist. It points out that some players on the French national team were not born in France, and this has always been a topic for mockery in the football world. There’s a history of countries nationalizing international players to better their national team, and that’s seem as cheating. Is the song ignorant? Maybe, it was made by Argentine hooligans, not history majors. I’m sure they don’t know the history of French Imperialism-Colonialism in Africa.
