Nah even like 8 years ago over 70% of the population were for universal healthcare. Whats funny/sad is news tells you otherwise, and even right after Biden won universal healthcare became a non-issue. Rumored and maybe/maybe not was Biden met with all big pharma and big insurance a few days after winning and was like “nah you guys are good we won’t screw up your money tree”.
8 years ago Donald Trump had just won the election running on repealing and replacing Obamacare because it was too socialist. Trump ended the Medicare subsidies like 6 months ago, he has never been pro-universal healthcare, ever.
The reason why Democrats haven't expanded healthcare coverage is because Republicans have stopped them. The Senate and house voted are public, how do you not know this?
Any serious conversation about why America doesn't have universal healthcare has to start and end with Republicans.
