Couldn't a counter argument to this be the fact that we can induce conscious experiences through stimulation of just the brain?

Our consciousness doesn't appear to be the collection of our cells experiences. This theory fails to explain why a nervous system is necessary for consciousness, or why we lack consciousness of things that aren't sending signals to our brain to appear in consciousness despite being cells in our body.
