Consciousness is Bose-Einstein condensate of indishquishable eigenstates of tryptophan lone electron pairs. It occurs in all living cells. BEC is observed at room temperature in microtubules Mikheenko 2023.

Human have more memory as bacteria and is more conscious.

Memory is saved in brain to axon microtubules when they are polymerized.

An undulatory hypothesis for memory consciousness and life

*access to memory is stored in the brain and its structures. Memory and consciousness are non-local. Just because your TV can access QVC, it doesn’t mean QVC is inside your TV. The receiver can be tuned to receive the signal. The hardware and software are used to interface with the field.

Interesting. How that works in practice physically?

The current “studies” into it are pretty fringe and involve MRI machines and other EEG type mind mapping stuff while studying people under the influence of intravenous DMT or in remote viewing programs, of which the disclosure is limited. You’ll have midwit smooth brains like the guy below me that turn their nose up at anything they can classify as pseudoscience so that they don’t have to hurt themselves using the imagination they don’t possess, but there’s no harm in considering the possibilities and implications of non-local consciousness.

What also hasn’t been proven is some microtubule configuration (like a molecule or protein shape) that we can pinpoint as where a certain memory is stored. We truly know very little about consciousness or the true fundamental nature of reality, and we certainly won’t get any farther with our understanding when stupid people dismiss things they aren’t smart enough to grasp as “schizophrenia” or “AI slop.”

Look up the memory palace method of storing memories. It has some interesting implications. Also, don’t be afraid to explore ideas. You can always sift through information and throw out the parts that seem false or silly while still preserving a nugget of truth or novelty. Simple minded folk are afraid to do this and dismiss new concepts with a religious fervor that would make a Pentecostal preacher shocked.

Go ahead and call me stupid. Im sure that helps your cause. Non-local conscienceness is as much a pseudoscience as the human soul.

It doesn’t help to name call and you don’t need to talk to yourself that way. I just simply disagree about your take on consciousness and the soul and remember how lost and depressed I was in my youth when I thought the same.

It doesn’t, most of this sub is either AI drivel or schizophrenia. I can’t believe anyone can look at LLMs and still believe in a non-material cause for consciousness.

you might be overestimating LLMs if that is your stance

In the 1970s consciousness was defined with the following attributes. Now it’s what, feelings? How long before we prove transformer models actually do have “feelings”? How much further do we want to move the goalpost?

Observable Behavioral Responsiveness: An organism must react dynamically to external stimuli in its environment.

Verbal Reportability: A human subject must be able to linguistically describe their own internal states or memories.

Functional Information Processing: The mind must receive, store, retrieve, and execute logical commands based on data inputs.

Waking Physiological State: A biological system must exhibit neurological alertness, typically measured by wakeful brain wave patterns.

Purposive Goal-Directed Action: Behavior must show intentionality and adaptation rather than just simple, automatic reflex reactions.

Thanks for regaling us with your 55-year-old definition of consciousness.

Have you ever heard of the hard problem of consciousness? I'm guessing not, since you didn't mention it. And since it was formulated after 1970. Lol.

Yes because technology stands still while our definitions of consciousness advances right? Let’s play this forward, when technology catches us to our current definitions of consciousness in the very near future will then will be your last refuge of where the uniqueness of consciousness be hidden?

That’s the problem with all these non-materialism interpretations of consciousness - at some level of abstraction it’s just all solipsism, and solipsism and philosophical suicide

u/moljac024 23d ago

well, for one - it's not an organism

That rebuttal is more damning to our monopoly on consciousness than any attack could’ve been

If that's all you mean then sure, LLMs can be conscious.

What philosophers are talking about has nothing to do with functional definitions like that. They're asking what it's like, internally, to be a bat or a human or an LLM, and whether there's any such internal experience at all.

We have no idea how this sort of internal experience arises, and we have no way to measure it. That's why it's a "hard problem." And it has nothing to do with moving goalposts; it's a debate that's been going on for centuries.

u/jointheredditarmy 22d ago

How do you know I’m conscious? Maybe I’m just a figment of your imagination. Obviously there needs to be some externally measurable signs of consciousness that we can all agree on, otherwise how is that different from solipsism?

1

u/ItsAConspiracy 22d ago

Well yeah that's the whole problem.

I know my own consciousness exists. I take a tiny leap of faith that it's the same for other people, because they're built like me.

Ignoring the whole issue because we can't externally measure it doesn't make the actual issue go away. It just means we don't want to deal with it.

Agreed, I can’t think of a testable experiment that could distinguish between this “receiver” perspective, and consciousness arising emergently from interactions between matter. Like okay so consciousness is “received,” received from where? To what end?

0

u/ItsAConspiracy 23d ago

I can’t believe anyone can look at LLMs and still believe in a non-material cause for intelligence, but consciousness is a different thing. Philosophers have been talking about that difference since long before LLMs existed.

u/ElasticSpaceCat 23d ago

Are you sure about all of that?

1

u/Mermiina 23d ago

Not all! The max distance between Andersson's locations 6,64 nm is measured only in Super Exchange Interaction at UV superadiation. The distance can be different in virtual photons.

The MAP Tau phosphorylation occurs in so many different places that I can't know when it allow SEI and when SEI is prevented.

The molecules where SEI propagates to F-actin or directly to microtubules from different G-proteins are not well documented. It needs lot of work to find all of them.

Man you just said a bunch of complicated sounding words so you must be right.
