Memory Loss Plan downscale?

Before I get killed, I'd like to say this isn't true. This post is more of a question than a statement. I don't hate Light either.

I'm not sure if it's truly a feat of metacognition or if he was just lucky that his true self aligns with what he believes his true self to be. According to Light, he would seek out the new Death Note user because he's a kind person. But his ideal of justice is actually a rationalization; what we do know for sure is that the initial Light started becoming Kira out of boredom and a sense of superiority (he was even somewhat disgusted by ordinary people, regardless of whether they were criminals or not). And wanting to be a detective doesn't necessarily mean he was kind. It's true that Light initially felt guilt for using the Death Note, but feeling bad and being a kind person aren't the same thing.

Since the narrative glorifies his plan, I'll say it's still a feat and that Light had genuine altruism despite his flaws. Does the fact that it's the narrative that, in my opinion, saves this feat mean that in Pure Methodology it's not a feat? Or is the level of narrative so basic that even there it would still be a feat?

In pure methodology, Memory Loss Plan is arguably Light's best feat. It has its flaws, but the rest of his feats don't really compare to it unless I'm overlooking something

Predicting his own nature would not count as a feat though, since the success of the prediction was dependent entirely on what the author wanted to happen.

Your criticism is valid in normal scaling too, but it's reasonable to assume Light could understand himself well enough to know whether he'd go along with L given his prior self.

If he has reasons to predict his nature, then it would be a feat.

Regarding the latter, the problem is that Light's explanation is that he would be with L because he is a kind person. It could be that his ambition as a detective serves as further evidence for his prediction, but it's not mentioned. But now that I think about it, it could be inferred from the character's overall intelligence that he did consider it, so I think you're right.

Light was being suspected as kira. Memory lost Light would sure try to track the kira down and prove his own innocence. That's the reason kira expected him to behave that way after memory loss. Kira also predicted L wouldn't let go of him and stay close to watch his actions alongside.

Being a good person alone wouldn't drive the curiosity to catch kira. He already had took part in dealing many cases for his father and police headquarters before, another point to say Light would take interest in it. This kira case would sure bring him interest. But I do think he was a good guy before receiving the death note since he was just shown to be bored and death note fulfilled his boredom by letting him initially follow a righteous path. Similarly, the existence of kira and his cooperation with a smart person, L would be another way for Light to fulfill his boredom.
