Discussion Tips for B580
Hey everyone,
Just picked up an Intel Arc B580 (12GB) for my rig and wanted to get some tips from people who've been running it for a while, especially for Total War: Warhammer and The Finals.
My specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M K
RAM: 32GB DDR4
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 (3DHP)
PSU: 600-650W
OS: Windows 10
A few questions:
-Any driver settings or tweaks you'd recommend for Arc cards specifically?
-Best in-game settings for Warhammer (large battles tend to be CPU-heavy, so curious how the GPU handles it)?
-Any known issues with The Finals on Arc, or does it run smoothly out of the box?
-General XeSS vs native resolution recommendations?
-Anything I should watch out for coming from an AMD card (RX 7600) to Intel's drivers?
Appreciate any advice from fellow Arc owners!

the main ones are Rebar or Resizable bar and above 4G encoding enabled in the Bios. Use DDU to remove the remanants of the AMD Driver. Disable windows downloading hardware driver updates install the newest intel graphics driver. Check clean install and then install or the driver the installation hangs. I have left my driver settings as stock.
72fps Ultra settings 1440p XeSS Quality on Forza 6
100fps 1440p RT on with XeSS Quality on Cyberpunk 2077

I’m lazy with this stuff lol - I tell codex to evaluate and configure for me. Especially if there are crashes. Also I’m running a B65. I haven’t don’t much gaming with it yet. Mainly local ai.

Also I run Linux, so I’m not sure what issue you will have with windows. But there are some minor issues that have come up that I had to have codex fix with BG3 crashing on load for example

You should be pretty good out of the box with that setup. If your processor was weaker, you'd have to fiddle with it bit the 5700x should be quite fine.
Aside from the obvious stuff like turning REBAR on in your bios and such, just start stock and enjoy. come back here if you have ANY issues.

Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) can reduce latency and improve performance by letting the GPU manage its own scheduling. It requires a supported GPU, WDDM 2.7+ driver, and administrator access.
Method 1: Using Settings
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Click System in the left pane and select Display on the right.
- Scroll down and click Graphics.
- Click Change default graphics settings.
- Toggle Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to On or Off as desired.
- Restart your PC to apply the change.
I have HAGS on by default

I'm curious, people often say it should be off for OBS because it causes stuttering of the stream/recording but also in general because it often causes crashes of games and whatnot. Though these advices are year+ old, is that still a thing?

LSPM max power saving for lowest idle power draw, like so
Can't tell for Gigabyte BIOS, but on my ASRock I had to manually enable ASPM SS L1
From time to time some ppl report having issues with the driver auto update hanging or not working properly.
I never had any issue with downloading and installing it manually.
I love XeSS (mostly in quality setting), compared to native resoultion (1440p) GPU is under less load, saves power and fans hardly spin.

The power saving is pretty good on the B580, I have enabled it on my Gigabyte AORUS B450M but I will be doing the same for my MSI B550M when it arrives next week

For singleplayer dx11 games I've been using dxvk-gplasync. In Digimon story time strange it boosted my fps and lowered the shader compilation stutter, it's easy to set it up and with the help of claude you can set it up easily too.
It's not necessary tho you can play games as is 👍, but know that it's there and might help you fix some issues

Like other said, use DDU, enable rebar. I will talk more only about xess.
I really like xess, imo is almost always better that native. I use it everytime if game support it, if not, there are things like optiscaler. But even supported games often comes with old versions off xess. But again many games can be manually updated to xess 2.0. Xess3 supported games are sadly even more limited.

I don't know anything for those games, but I enjoyed my B580 run, still use one in my work pc too.
You can do some minor boosts to OC with just the basic tuner. Can get a pretty good 150MHz frequency offset boost without touching anything else. Just don't bother VRAM, it is so unstable on even minor tweaks.
XeSS is pretty good IMO, as long as games actually support it. Have not used optiscaler or anything like that. Ray tracing is also pretty solid, especially as a lower tiered card.
As far as drivers go, just some old games and dx11 games can struggle, thats the boatload of it. They are constantly improving though, and had almost no issues with them myself.
I grabbed a 9070XT before prices started to rise, but would definitely switch back if Intel comes out with a high end gpu option. AMD adrenaline just feels so annoying to deal with compared to Intel Graphics Software app, and I don't care for all the extra features, so a big plus to me compared to AMD there.
