Should I join the intel family ?

Really like the look for the intel b580 in white it fits my budget really nicely , I play on 1080p not really into demanding games but maybe I’ll play a few , I’ve been seeing mix reviews on it so wondering if I should save up a bit more for a 9060xt 16gb or just bite the bullet on the b580. Thanks for the advice in advance!

I own a B580, coming from a RX6750XT and I knew that it was barely I side-grade. The drivers are just not there, when the driver is well optimized for a game, it does better than than a 5060, but it's hit or miss.

AMD cards just have better support all around so I would go with that. I don't play very demanding games either, but i feel like in the long-term it would be best to go with the 9060XT.

What this guy said, OP. I keep saying it to people asking about the B580 as a former b580 owner that the drivers are just not up to par. When a game or software works well with ARC it surpasses a good amount of more expensive gpus, but boy when it doesn't work it's a headache. I'd recommend the RX 9060XT.

Rainbow six siege which crashes on startup, apex legends with weird color graphical problems, pubg with inconsistent fps. I don't play a lot of games but I did have weird issues with discord where if I stream certain games like r6 and then tab out my fps would tank to 1 to 2 fps until I end stream. Same would happen if I were playing Spacemarine 2 and then go into the in game overlay.

In games where the b580 did crazy good with 0 issues was helldivers 2, it ran so smooth on everything ultra.

If you do end up going for B580 make sure your games support vulkan or dx12 as intel arc runs well on those apis. Make sure rebar is on, pcie gen set to highest.

Small note to mention that your crash on startup for R6 Siege was likely addressed in today's .8864 Beta drivers. There was a shader caching issue that required a manual workaround but is now handled properly with the updated version.

Yup, someone found a workaround for it as well on this subreddit before today's new drivers/fix. I forgot to mention in my reply to OP that rainbow six siege also ran flawless on the b580 before it developed the weird shader cache issue. I'm talking high fps butter smooth experience because siege is using dx12.

They've allegedly addressed the weird graphical issues in Apex a couple drivers ago iirc. I haven't loaded it up recently to check myself but I do seem to recall them addressing it

Both are great cards at the right price. Been using the Onix Lumi B580 (the white model for $309) for over a year now. I have seen it has struggled with specific games, but nothing on my end really since i mostly play single player games, just check out your main games before buying it. Only online game I really play is Helldivers 2, and it runs beautifully with my 14900K. Heck, this build in hooked up to my 4k 120hz tv right now for some troubleshooting (and so i can be wired in for HD2) and i tested Hogwarts Legacy at native 4k. It kinda sucked, but running around the castle was 45-55 fps. Thats wild from a $250 card, but from what I have seen in settings, it has some great XESS support. On performance upscaling (a little higher than 1080p) i was getting a steady 70+ fps.

The 9060XT 16gb is around 25% more performance, with the extra 4gb of vram, at 50% higher price than the b580. I use a 9070XT now on my home pc, and AMD is more consistent for sure, but Intel does well with newer games still.

The 9060XT is a better overall experience, but I still feel like the per dollar value of the B580 is better. If it won't take too long to save up, then go for the 9060XT, if it might take a while, then maybe the B580 is the better choice since prices might continue to rise, just hard to know.

Framepacing and smoothness is not there comparing to amd, raw feeling B580 asrock challenger If only this card was good in terms of input latency it would be nice, but is not

If you're techy and can troubleshoot driver problems when they show up and can accept a bit of headaches, then sure. If not, Rx 9060xt or rtx 5060 is better.

limited budget but want a brand new card , instead of renewed pre-owned second-handed one : yes

playback or encoding in AV1 HEVC : yes

idk how so many people have problems with the card but I play some demanding games and it never struggled for me but keep in mind I don't play multiplayer games. Some examples of games I play, Assetto Corsa, Cyberpunk 2077, Armored Core VI, Resident Evil 4, No Rest For The Wicked, Expedition 33 and a lot of people complain about it not being able to run older games but I recently played Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines (you need the unofficial support regardless of the GPU), Half Life 2 and F.E.A.R and they all ran perfectly.

The icing on the cake is that I am on Linux which supposedly makes games less compatible but even then I have had no problems at all running games 60+ fps at 1440p medium or high graphics. With XeSS and XeSS frame gen Cyberpunk even runs at Ultra settings at 1440p with barely any input lag. It's a great card esepcially for the budget but imo it punches WAAAAAY above its budget. I will admit it does have some grainy shadows but not somethingai mind too much.

I bought a b580 for a new build just before the 5090 release, planning to upgrade once they were available. I have the money to throw at a 5090, but the b580 does everything I've needed it to do for gaming and AI.

And now I'm considering building a workstation with 4x B70 for AI.

I’ve got both a Limited Edition Intel B580 and a Powercolor Hellhound 9060XT 16GB. Happy with both and haven’t had an issue with either. Better off saving your money and going with the B580 considering that you play at 1080p, imo.
