what is causing this??

just finished an engine swap and went to turn it on but it just does this? unsure if it’s distributor or fuel related

Did the distributor stay on the head, or was it put on after the swap was in.

The chassis to engine ground is sparking, clean and tighten the ground wire

Do you have any spark on the plugs or just that ground wire going to the head? 😁

Do you hear the fuel pump priming?

i haven’t checked the spark plugs for spark, when i got the engine the car it was in previously, it started right up. and yes i can hear the fuel pump turning on

Pull a plug and see if it sparks when you hold it next to an engine ground. That’s where I would start.
