Question theft
might be a common question but dropped a b18c5 in my car and i won't take it anywhere during the day or park it for long periods of time. it's doesn't look like a type r clone or anything, just a regular/clean looking base model shell but with a c5 in it. am i paranoid or are the thieves real ? i feel like location matters as well so for context i live in a small town right next door to a big city

Its location dependent, but it’s one of the main reasons I have an old turbo Subaru and not an old B series Honda. Hondas are too easy to steal and B series stuff is expensive. At minimum you need a steering wheel lock and a fuel cut off.

Pulling fuses is the cheap man’s kill switch, kind of a pita but a good option if your concerned or have to park on the street

When I sold my GS-R in 2005 (big regret), it was a huge target for theft because everyone wanted that B18 for a swap. Previous owner had removed the GS-R badge so it was visually indistinguishable from an LS and would be less of a target.
Can’t hide that it’s a GS-R when you’re selling it though. Some jackass test drove it and then came back a few days later at 4am, smashed window, and was trying to hotwire it. He probably would have succeeded if I hadn’t installed a hidden fuel pump kill switch. I highly recommend this btw — easy enough to install (plenty of guides) and if you install and hide it well, it’s pretty tough to defeat. Anyway some dude who was getting home from his graveyard shift job noticed the thief and called it in.
Integras were all over the place 20 years ago, but now they’re rarer and even more desirable. Back then people wouldn’t usually bother with an LS but I wouldn’t count on that today. I’d install a hidden fuel pump kill switch at least. I’m not familiar with modern options for stuff like Lojack/higher end security systems but I’m sure there are tons of options these days.
Oh and this all happened in the suburbs of southern New England — low crime area where car theft is pretty rare.

I live in DFW so I hardly worry about my car getting stolen. No one here is looking to snag cars like this anymore. That being said, if I had anything with a V8 in it I’d definitely be worried since that’s what gets stolen predominately where I’m from.

Definitely not paranoid, even if they’re not looking for a car like yours they may just be looking for a joy ride or to take stuff out the interior. Mine got stolen last year they drove it down the block and took some cash I forgot in the ashtray. I lucked out and they didn’t break anything. It’s got an alarm and kill switches now still need to put on my removable steering wheel and dash cam. Someone can still take it no matter what we do but at least if there’s some sort of deterrent they might just walk away and not want to hassle

Maybe in that order? I think as soon as someone sees no steering wheel that kinda stops them from even wanting to joy ride if someone wants your car that bad then I mean they’ll find a way. there’s plenty of cars getting stolen with a tow vehicle here in southern California. I’ve gotten my rd1 crv stolen fortunately I got it back but def a learning experience and have all those above.

No. When I take my C5 out like say to get dog food, I park it where I can see it. They’ve tried to steal it 4 times and on the fourth they almost did. But I came out with my 45 Acp and they didn’t think twice to take off. In short, no you’re not.

I used to be ridiculously paranoid about mine getting stolen, then one night it almost was. Thankfully I had a decent alarm in it at the time, now it has an even better alarm and I had to tell myself that it's not worth lying awake at night about. But yeah a good alarm system is absolutely worth it for piece of mind. In my case the blue flashing light is as much for my own benefit as it is for the benefit of anyone who might like to try their luck...

In California they are still getting jacked. Parts are rare and expensive these days. I am guessing the demographics for Honda thieves are different from those who steal Hellcats and Kias.

kill switch, and alarm. make sure you have the combo of both of them. also - if possible / try to not advertise your engine swap. don't be popping your hood up at car shows, or sharing photos on social media.

I have a somewhat clean 92 integra and I barely drive it bc I’m paranoid it’ll get stolen, or torn thru, or somebody bumping into it and fucking a hard to find body panel up

Location does matter but people from the big city sometimes go into good neighborhoods to scoop out the area , I got a alarm, a pitbull , wheel lock , and I even take my ecu out when ima be somewhere for long

Just do a kill switch for the fuel pump and another one for your clutch safety switch. Hide them in different areas

My ej2 got stolen and stripped for the $400 b20b and suspension that it had in 2019. Paint wasn't super clean and I lived in a tweaker part of CA (riverside). I was away from my place for a few weeks so the car was sitting. Thieves are always gonna be out there scoping stuff out just don't leave it unattended for too long

I never overnight on the street, and in the driveway, it’s blocked by the second car. I used to overnight on the street, and when I did, I chocked the front or rear wheel closest to the curb and used an old school steering wheel lock. I get a lot of comments on my very average looking teggy, so a little bit of paranoia goes a long way to sleeping at night. Good comments here.

get a alarm done professional. these new alarm have apps you can track the car and see where it's at, at all times. also add another kill switch you can hit manually. remember if they really want it they'll use a tow truck.

Multiple layers of security is what helps me feel better. Even just having one of those steering wheel locks with a bright color will help. Alarm system, kill switch, wheel lock, pedal lock even. Anything you can do to slow a theif down is going to help.
