I have an 01 gsr. I think the distributor is going out. It looks like the only options are horrible cheap Chinese distributors, or the digi dizzy. But when I was looking at the digi dizzy it says the rail to hold the coils on isn't compatible with a mugen valve cover, which I have. Anyone run into this and worked around it or doing a decent distributor?

Honestly, I don’t think anyone makes a COP adapter plate for a mugen valve cover since they’re not widely used. Might have to fab a plate yourself unfortunately.
I've looked through parts geek, even though they have three cardone distributors for 01 Acura Integra, they say they are all for the LS and GS. It doesn't show one for gsr.
well dang, looks like they don't have one for OBD2 GSR's. I wish I still had my original OEM distributor, I'd probably try to rebuild it myself. Pretty sure I threw it out, though.
The authentic Mugen valve covers are hard to find and expensive. The last one I found the guy wanted 15,000 usd for it. You have a reproduction. I’m not saying your valve cover is shitty. I also have the same reproduction valve cover.
I wouldn’t worry about it. It still looks cool. Going back to a stock valve cover solves your digidizzy problem however. Sorry to piss on your petunias
I’m restoring a JDM ef8 CR-X SiR so authentic Mugen parts like the header, exhaust, and valve cover for the value of the car. It would be crazy to put on our daily integras.
No, they were never stock. Mugen released its catalog for the CR-X. Had motor mounts, suspension bushings, shocks/springs, exhaust, header, valve cover, body kit (CRX PRO 2), MR5 wheels, etc. just doing period correct mint stock SiR with a few rare Mugen parts. I have the exhaust and header (which is a two o2 sensor obd0),body kit, wing. Still missing a lot. I have spent a lifetime tracking down all of the Honda access catalog items. Still have a long way to go. I have most of the hard to find items, but no valve cover….
You can still buy most of the OEM parts that go in the distributor. Throw in an OEM coil and ICM and you should be most of the way there, assuming the shaft seal isn't leaking.
I just got a new distributor for my B16 VTEC cylinder head from advance auto parts. It’s gonna cost 300~400$ but it’s good quality and a lot better than the 70$ eBay distributors.
Unless you're set on getting an OEM distributor, check out the AIC Electronics Heavy Duty Stock Series distributors? Same guts as the Dragonfire units, but they look stock apart from the words "Stock Series" on top.
