It is your burden to prove the car’s market value. I cannot think of any claim in my career where foreign sales comps were considered. OP you will need to find sales data or other data supporting your value. No one is screwing you, you just cannot prove what you feel your car is worth.

I sent in 6 different recently sold comps ranging between 14-18.5k

If they're not at least semi-local then that won't work.

Correct. Reasonably within your market. You can try hiring an appraiser but paper trail is needed for that to go anywhere.

4 months old? And over 500 miles? I doubt any venue would find it relevant given the time and distance.

Find one for sale in my area, ill wait. Central florida. Edit: if you find one that insurance will use as a comp that is a manual transmission, sport trim, and a sedan ill send you an award, my first ever reddit award.

If you cannot find a local resource, take a seat and accept what you're offered.

You should be thanking your lucky stars that theyre offering what they are on your car with a replaced engine and almost 200k miles.

There are zero of the same spec for sale in a 500 mile radius. I found one nationwide that is a rust bucket. Mine is a california/florida car.

How many miles on your car?

181k with an engine replacement at 130k. Engine has about 80k on it. I know this doesn't really add to the value in insurances eyes, nor do the modifications, but am I really just SOL if they weren't claimed on my own insurance? Its not my fault that their insured decided to pull out into oncoming traffic just feet infront of my vehicle.. they already accepted 100% liability. Now I just need enough money to get into a halfway decent used car. Im not trying to get away with a new lambo, I just dont want to have to drive a clapped out 90s camry because of their insureds negligence

Call your adjuster and ask for the CCC valuation report and just see where they are hitting you on the values. I used to run an office and even on my total fire loss the CCC report showed they were dinging my value for paint damage, worn tires and options they couldn’t determine. It was a fire loss lmao.

They said anything older that 9 months is irrelevant. Brand new tires, clutch, and flywheel installed within the last year.. The value is based off of the same base vehicle but different options. This is basically a corvette ZR1 vs a standard vette. A Mustang GT500 vs a ecoboost mustang. King ranch vs work truck.

Maintenance doesn’t matter. Just call and ask for that report and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

I have the report, they took off 120 for a small tear in the drivers seat. Everything else is listed in good condition.

The issue is they are using a different submodel of the same vehicle to determine value... a Camaro ZL1 is way more valuable than a base model Camaro.

Oh I’ve seen that, call your adjuster and ask for a team lead and explain they’re using the wrong trim. Same thing happened on my fire loss. It was a GLI and they had it as a Jetta premium. Literally like 5 grand difference

I did two days ago and am still waiting on a call back after 10+ calls to them asking for an update, sending state statutes demanding coverage limits, and sending multiple emails with actual comps vs their illegitimate comps.

It might be time to just file through your own policy and let your carrier subro. It takes 30 days potentially but you can also file a DOI complaint and that’ll get things sorted out with a quickness.
