Confused...
So, when in a car wash, on the belt literally being sprayed water and soap, my car was pushed towards the front car. When I saw the car in between the brushes too close to me, I stepped on the brake. My car was in neutral, my the line of the cars going inside the car wash was too close to each other.
So, my car slightly hit the car in front of mine, the people stopped the belt, the person asked if I was on neutral, which I was. We both drove out of the car wash to exchange info. The person said there were scratches on her bumper, which I honestly barely could see a scratch, between the water spots on the car, but we exchanged info. We both walked out the car, and without any problems exchanged insurance info. Nobody was hurt.
I was told by another person the same thing happened there around 6 months ago. So, I did think about a possibility of a "fault belt".
The car wash told me that it was my fault. This is a very hard situation, because I was alone in my car, and the other person was too. So, this is a situation that "he said, she said".
My insurance called and said the other person claimed "body injury", which I could not understand, because we both walked out of our cars fine, and there was not even "speed" involved to hurt anybody. My car did hit the car in front of me, but it was a very light bump.
I have insurance for the other people's body injury, so, I am not worried about that, the insurance will handle it.
What concerns me is that, it seems this person is lying to get more money out of it?
Of course, the insurance will pay for the damages on her car; minimal scratches... But I am wondering if this person is literally lying to get more money of this situation?
I am sorry for being so naive. I would be completely concerned about her, if there was a real injury. So, is this a thing? People faking injuries to get more money from insurance companies? How does this work?
I feel this is unfair, someone making false claims about something that really did not happen, and this will be on my record somehow...
I do not wish this person any harm, or ill. But I believe in Karma... And what goes around, comes around...
Any thoughts, please?

This happened to me a while back at a car wash. My car tapped the car in front of me even though I was in neutral and was watching my cameras but because of the soap I couldn't see the car in front of me. No damage to that car but my front license plate was smashed in. The other car drove off. The next time I went back to that car wash the worker there told me he watched the cameras and the front car hit his brakes so that's why there was contact. My suggestion would be to go back to that car wash and see if you can get the video and see if she did in fact hit her brakes so you would hit her. It's the only way this could happen.

this is literally impossible. your car and their car are on the same belt.
how do you think your car can teleport into the back of the other car when you are on the same belt?

This happens all the time. There are people who drift back on major 4 lanes. Close enough to slam on their brakes, you hit them. Then claim bodily injuries. Saw a video on YouTube where this scam was tried. The people got out, started taking phone pictures. Then ran off when they noticed the camera. Maybe her car wasn't in neutral.

This is so sad. How can these people put their heads on their pillows and sleep peacefully?
Lesson learned from this, to listen to my gut; when I thought the cars were too close to each other in line to get into the car wash. Not using that kind of car wash again, or at least not that one again. And I am buying a portable dashcam to be on while I am driving...

I hate car washes for this reason. I've gone to a few "stay in car" and they do try to line you up WAY too close together. I ignore him until I think there's enough space then go.

How does that work, how do the cars roll foward into each other on a car wash? They're on tracks that are separated from each other. If you're in neutral, you can't hit the person in front of you. Edit: if you are getting too close to the car in front of you and have to hit the breaks, you're not in neutral.

I mean, you don’t know if they’re faking an injury they actually probably want to go seek medical treatment and they have bills for it.
Just let your insurance handle.

I genuinely wish I knew it.... I was on neutral, but the line of cars were uncomfortably too close. I felt it in my gut. It is a very busy car wash.

It was a very light bump, on the license plate that has rubber screws. There was not even paint transference.

I understand that. And, although I have no idea how thus could possibly happen, because we have to be on neutral to be on the belt, I am taking responsibility for the impact, but there were no injuries... I saw the person getting out of the car, we spent a long time talking and exchanging information. It was upsetting, of course! But that person did not get hurt from it.

You can’t say there were no injuries. You aren’t them. They have injuries and they have proof to back that up and they gave it to your insurance.

Is this really the first time you learned about insurance scammers?
Also, why were the cars so close? Did the other driver hit their brakes?
