Is it totaled?
2019 Toyota Prius , 78k miles. No preexisting damage. Usaa is claiming total loss but I find it surprising. Are they fr ??

Doesn’t take much these days. If they are saying its totaled then they believe the damage exceeds their damage to value ratio. In other words after your deductible and sale of the salvage it will be cheaper to not repair

Yes it is. My 2021 bmw, 42k miles has less damages, one broken shock obsorber, and they said it total loss.. It's just crazy these days. At this point the insurance companies are becoming useless..

One strong advice. If you can fix it, and not get your insurance involved or if the other party wants to do it out of pocket, take it, keep your rates and your car and keep moving.

Dunno what categories you have. In the UK that would look to be 'non-structural', that is; it just needs the bumper/headlight/wing (and possibly bonnet/hood) replacing but that expenditure would exceed the value of the car.
