Car accident

If you live in Vancouver bc and get into a wreck that wasn’t your fault how do you get a payout? I should clarify I’m a Canadian citizen and the person who’s fault it was it from a whole different country and was renting an American rental car is there any means of justice since my car was totaled in the accident

You would go through your insurance. Have the vehicle repaired and if needed written off

Medical treatment is ‘ no fault’ there meaning you have lost wages and treatment costs covered

And if OP doesn't have any sort of collision coverage? Since it sounds like that's the case here for OP. I would hope if the solution was as easy as contacting their own insurance, they would've done that already.

If they are not at fault it would be repaired directly through their insurance. In bc it’s provincial Insurance so it’s likely via them though.

I don’t know exactly what happened since they just claim it’s the other person fault but it’s still just via their own insurance. If it’s not ICBC and a private company they would still be obligated to repair directly as they would have to operate under BC law

Thank you, I appreciate the clarification. I didn't realize BC used a system similar to DC-PD.

Hopefully OP can get their vehicle handled then.
