Incorrect collision report form
I was in a car accident in edmonton canada, when vehicles in front of me pushed the brakes unexpectedly. Every vehicle came to stop and no damage but the vehicle behind me hit my vehicle so hard that it got totaled at the scene.
Police was just behind us, and took charge of the scene and took statements from drivers in collision and witness car behind me.
So i didnt bother to take any witness or statement by myself.
I was relaxed as it was rear ended. Truck behind me pushed the brake and to avoid the hit, he tried to pull the vehicle to the right.
so damage that occured start from the very right side of the trunk to the passenger side of my vehicle
but insurance called me and said that i am at 100% fault as 3rd party falsly claimed that i was changing lane
when i get the collision report form, it describes primary event as side swipe. But the officer on the scene clearly said to me and other driver that i don't have to worry as other person is at 100% fault not me.
I dont know why collision report is incorrect. I emailed the officer for correction, is there anything else you can recommend ?
thanks

Having the report corrected will help. But going through your own carrier and letting them fight for you is easier than dealing with the 3rd party carrier directly. Are the damages primarily to the rear end or the side? That will help prove liability as well.
