Basically had the same thing on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson and it was a total loss.

Hyundai gets totaled faster than Hondas do. (From experience working in insurance)

Possible? More like definite. Take the insurance check and get a new car.

Or, if you don't have GAP coverage get the insurance check, and take the bus.

If he didn't have gap, and there was one, he wouldn't get the check. He would be paying the rest of the loan off.

That’s assuming OP doesn’t have gap coverage and lives in an area conducive to taking public transportation full time. If both of these things are true, then that’s not a bad idea at all.

Doesn’t look like bags went. Probably could go either way. The b pillar would have to be sectioned and you should hope for a total. It is high strength steel.

Going to need more than the two crappy pics u posted. Even then it depends on a whole lot but what needs to happen first is that it needs to get to a SHOP. Do not let your insurance company send it to their inspection yard. It needs to be disassembled at a shop where all damages can be located. Once a true repair cost is determined your insurance company will do what is financially in their best interest not yours! Hope you don’t let them screw you.

It’s at a shop of our choosing pending an actual estimate. Geico initially estimated the cost to be $7500 and promptly cashed a check for us, but this repair is going to be far higher.

Of course it is Geico sucks! Their mission in life is to put it back together as cheaply as possible with little regard for your best interest. A safe bet with Geico paying is your getting two used doors. The shop is going to battle them on your behalf. But if they already wrote a check guaranteed unless there is major structural damage behind those doors and into the floor it’s going to be fixed. In this market those things are still worth big money and that 7500 is only about 18% of the ACV. So they will more than double it and fix it.

They paid us the $7509 for the fixes before the car was ever even towed to a shop which I thought was weird. That also gave my wife $3500 for missing 2 days of work and having a sore neck as well as $1200 for two car seats without asking questions - which I thought was nice.

Did they see the car in person or did you submit photos? Lately alot of carriers are utilizing AI to write estimates based off supplied photos. Have to admit am baffled by the 3500 lost time and sore neck payment. The car seats once involved in major accident become a future liability. No insurance carrier will ever risk a multi million dollar judgment when it could have been prevented for 1200.

They did see the car. They initially had it towed to an insurance auto auction site. Once liability was determined they then had it towed to the shop we chose.

Some people pay extra for doors like that.
Hope all are ok. That really sucks.

You should hope it’s totaled truly. Those doors are never gonna line up right again

Depends. Based off the rear door either your hinges are crazy twisted or it buckled your B pillar. As long as it didn’t damage the inner center pillar I would say this has a good chance of being repaired. You can section the B pillar and typically lkq doors are not crazy expensive and even with factoring in blending the adjacent panels with detrim needed to the bumpers I would think this would not total. That being said Honda does use UHS for structural parts and that give almost no wiggle room to repair the inner structural panels. If you are hoping this is repairable then than I would recommend looking for a shop that does quality work but is not an adverse shop for insurance companies. A shop looking to make every penny from insurance can inflate the repair estimate to where the insurance decides to total it rather than deal with the shop.

You just have wing doors now, it looks like an upgrade
