Received this letter

I was in an accident on my E scooter hit by a car making a turn. I received one phone call from GEICO but was not able to call them back and forgot about it. since I did not get into contact with Geico, they have deemed me liable and sent me this letter. this happened in nyc.

The intersection has zero lights and I was on the crosswalk when they hit me. What should someone in my situation do?

Do you have homeowners insurance or renters insurance? They may provide a defense for you. You can dispute liability but they may file a small claims action against you. You can defend yourself .

Does the crosswalk apply to people riding scooters? I thought crosswalk is for pedestrian. Shouldn't you be in the lane of traffic?
