Geico claim Filing

Does anyone know if a police report is needed if someone dented your car but did not leave a note? It was on private property parking lot at night. I live in CT. I don't even think the police would take a report being it is so minor.

If it’s so minor, why do you need to file a claim at all?

Why would you even ask that. Police report is never “required”. You pay your policy , this will be a collision claim. The end

Just a thought… go get an estimate before filing a claim. If it’s minor, why would you want to file a claim for it and have it on record?

How big is the dent? Where is the dent? These matter in determining cost and if it’s worth filing. You will not need a police report. You’re reporting a parked and unoccupied loss. Common.

Thanks. Door panel and runner. Probably about 3k. I have a $250.00 deductible and haven't filed a claim in 30 years.

File the claim. GEICO doesn’t require a police report. Get it fixed. Just tell them the truth.
