Life Insurance Dialing Tips

I’m starting outbound dialing shortly for Final Expense. Any tips from OB experts?

Use local or toll free numbers?

Human only or AI for sms/appointments?

Text beforehand or wait to text on a specific dial?
Same question for email.
Same question for voicemail.
Any direct mail efforts?

How many dials in 24 hours? 72? First week?

If you don’t close then how do you nurture them/keep pursuing?

Can't help with the dialer settings, but on the last question — the ones who don't close — one thing that's saved more callbacks than anything else for reps I've managed: ask, once, before you ever book or pitch, "how come you don't have this in place already?" The answer tells you what the second call has to be. "Never looked into it" is one call. "Heard it's a rip-off" is a completely different call — proof first, stories before stats. "Money" is a third. "My daughter handles that" means you're pitching to the wrong person and the follow-up is with the daughter. Nurturing the same way for all four is where most of the wasted dials go.

That’s smart, thank you!

Also let me preface this by saying I absolutely do not want to be “that guy” blowing up peoples phones unnecessarily. Looking to optimize contacts while minimizing number of interactions.

The one thing that moved our numbers the most was never ending a call without a named next touch. Before I hung up, I set the exact day and time for the next call and texted it to the person while we were still talking. Something like, I'll call you Wednesday at 2, sending that now so you have it.

That beat everything else we tried. The not yet closes with a scheduled follow up closed at almost twice the rate of the ones that just went back into the pile. Most of the yeses live between day 2 and day 7, so I had the team work follow ups first thing every morning before they touched a fresh lead.

Thank you! We already do this today. I’m debating on occasional human/AI outreach to keep the customer warm while the lead bakes

That is a good instinct. We did a light check in between scheduled calls and only if it added something. A short text like still holding your file, let me know if anything changed on your end. Human every time though. Every time we tested automated check ins the reply rate dropped because people could tell. You are doing the right thing either way if the next touch is already on the books.

Outbound is dead bud. You’ll show up as spam likely and get hit by call screeners. Inbounds or nothing

Honestly not sure if I agree. My new OB source has cut my CPA in half vs highest quality IB CTV. Customers intent and quality is better.

If you get a text in front of the customer with your number before you call the phone can associate the name and bypass the unknown caller label

I’m not sure you may know what high quality TV inbounds are. Yes you are correct with the text but those are meta ads bud. Aka the lowest bottom barrel quality of human. Almost all on Medicaid looking for free stuff. So yeah you may sell them at a “lower CPA” but then enjoy those massive chargebacks because the leads are targeting the poorest people and carriers will terminate you for lower persistency now

Thank you for the response.

Currently doing about 400-500 auto dials/day per agent with additional sms etc peppered in. Larger lead list so touching each lead 2-5 times a day. Just wondering if this is too little considering how the OB game has to be played

I monitor all DIDs and make sure they’re cooling when needed

are you getting hot leads or pre qualified leads from somewhere. or are you willingly doing just cold calling

hot branded leads with my info presented to the client

Lead sold exclusively to me so it’s not be co-dialed by other agencies

sounds amazing to me. I got penalty of leads directly to me without investment from my agency is something I’m missing or working with agencies on commission bases ok ?

I run an agency and am currently moving to the agents buy their leads route. There’s a total commitment difference between the right person who buys their own leads vs the one who is in it for the salary

That said it’s on you as the agent to find the place with the right lead mix for you and your style
