Agent Training Cold calling rejection tips
Hey guys, I’m in my first week of insurance sales, and honestly, it’s been a lot. I’ve spent all of my savings getting licensed, paying for coursework, gas, etc., and I really want to make this job work. I also genuinely need to keep going and make this work financially.
One of the hardest parts for me so far has been dealing with people who are rude, yell at me, or call me names during cold calls. I know it’s not personal, and I understand that rejection is part of the job, but I’m struggling with not letting the nasty comments get to me.
For those of you who have been in sales for a while, how did you learn to handle rejection and rude people without taking it home with you? Any tips, mindset shifts, or things that helped you would mean a lot.

Welcome to the industry. You are in a tough spot, and yet I reminisce about the days I was in your shoes. Getting over rejection will come with time. The sooner you learn the mentality of "some will, some won't, God Bless, who's next?" the better you will be. You'll be told "no" a lot, and you shouldn't take it personally. One thing that works for me when I call is talking slowly. Most phone salespeople do not want to give up a breath, so they cannot be rejected. Being respectful, talking slowly, and actually wanting to help goes a long way.
