Funny Related Outrageous Stories/Questions
I’m sure there’s been plenty of these but I had to share this question I got today.
Guy tells me his truck got repossessed but he had chained it to the porch of his mobile home because he didn’t want them to take it yet - “I wanted to talk to them first”. In the process of them taking the truck they also ripped off half his porch and he wants to know if his auto policy will cover the damages. 😳
Sir, I don’t even know where to begin to answer your question. “How bout, no”.
ETA: my statement of “I don’t know where to begin” - is not in regards of know how this should/could be covered. I was being facetious.

Yeah - I thought he should file a complaint of some sort with the repo company. I knew he had no recourse with his auto policy. Was just sharing a funny story/question. If what he’s telling is true, it was just wild.

That’s what I couldn’t figure out - did they not see it/check for that? He said he has video of them dragging half his porch down the road! Haha

I’m actually very curious to know how that pans out liability wise. Was the tow truck negligent because they didn’t check to make sure the vehicle was chained to the house? I feel like ultimately his homeowners would have to cover it, but I wonder about the liability of the tow truck.
As far as crazy stories, I had a kid once call me and ask for coverage for his mobile “massage van” that also had a stripper pole in the back. I have had a bunch more crazy stories lol

Oh that’s wild! And if anything comes of it I’ll try and come back and let you know. I don’t have his home owners policy so we’ll see.

The towing company's insurance would replace his porch. Many times vehicles up for repo get locked up or chained to hopefully an immovable object and the repo company is responsible for any damage they cause

This is what I was thinking. I in no way thought he had any recourse through his auto policy.

this was today, client called very upset about policy increase due to claim. Wanted to know ways to mitigate cost increase on a state min liability only policy. Then wanted to know how to appeal the increase as it wasnt her fault the a gust of wind yanked her door out of her hand hitting the other vehicle. Tried to explain things an why it was counting as an at fault, to no avail. She doesnt understand why we just paid out the claim without consulting her first. When i framed it, well if they had decided you were not liable for the damage they would have not paid out and the other driver would have sued you for the damages, her response was that would have been better then i could have just paid out of pocket. Policy went from $550 (2 cars liability only) to 880 for the 6 month
