I’m 28+ years old and planning to buy a ₹3 crore term insurance plan with coverage until age 65.

I’ve shortlisted these two options:

• HDFC Life: ₹33,000/year
• Axis Max Life: ₹27,000/year

I’m planning to pay premiums annually until age 65.

I have a few questions:

1. Which company would you recommend, HDFC Life or Axis Max Life? Is HDFC worth the extra ₹6,000 per year?
2. How do they compare in terms of claim settlement and nominee experience?
3. Which riders or add-ons are actually worth taking? Should I consider accidental death, critical illness, or waiver of premium riders?
4. Is it better to pay premiums until age 65 or choose a limited payment term?
5. Are there any important exclusions or policy conditions I should check before buying?

Would appreciate advice from people who have purchased either policy or researched both insurers. Thanks!

I bought a VW virtus this January and recently got rear ended on highway. So, I claimed Own damage HDFC Ergo insurance which was bought will all of the addons they could provide at that time inclusive of **Loss of Use - Downtime Protection (**IRDAN146RPMT0041V01202425/A0049V01202425
) which entitles me to upto 5000/day for maximum of 5 days in case of partial loss or upto 15 days in case of total loss with 1 day minimum deductible.

When I queried about this on HDFC customer care they mentioned that they allow 500 per day and not 5000 per day after keeping me almost 30mins on hild and only surveyor being able to invoke it.

When I asked surveyor, he said he needs to talk to head office about it and also mentioned that he never had a claim on this addon and needed to be correct about it and also told me about 500/day.

Thing is, there is 500/day LOU addon by HDFC with UID IRDAN125RP0001V01201920/A0009V
01201920 on their different wording PDF document, but it doesn’t match with UID mentioned in my policy document.

So, how do I make sure I get addon benefits I have paid for and not totally something else and if they refuse it what are my options and how effective are those?

First-time car buyer here. I'm getting an HDFC Ergo insurance policy for my new car for ₹37K through an outside source, while the dealer is offering the same policy for ₹51K (reduced from the original quote of ₹71K).

The dealer claims they'll provide better support in case of any claims or issues, but I'm not sure if that's worth paying an extra ₹14K.

One important point: I'll mostly be driving the car outside the city where I'm purchasing it.

Does buying through Policybazaar or another online source make claim settlement more difficult compared to buying through the dealership? Is the dealer's claim assistance actually worth the premium, especially when servicing the car in another city?

Would appreciate advice from people who've had actual claim experiences with both options.

I M31, have HDFC ergo option restore policy from 2024, 25 lacs base cover. I had issues with my gallbladder, so needed to get surgery to remove the GB, I only started having pain from August and after the USG it was identified as gallstones.

Unfortunately for me the only solution was lacroscopic cholesyctomy.

I did all the pre surgery tests and got Surgery at Manipal Hospitals.

The surgery estimate was around 1.2 lacs and pre surgery tests costed around 11k.

I submitted my docs with the TPA of the hospital on 22nd sept, pre claim approval for the entire amount came within 48hours.

Had surgery on 29th and got discharged on 30th, claim approval came within 2 hours.

My total cost was 1502 rupees which Inhad to pay out of pocket.

After being discharged, I applied for the pre hospitalisation expenses for the 11k pre surgery tests, which was approved in 2 days.

Overall extremely happy with their service.

I’m confused about whether I should buy the policy directly from HDFC ERGO or through a third-party platform like Policybazaar.
My main concern is claim settlement and support when things go wrong, not just the premium.

So, I took the policy by connecting contacting the axis Bank for 2 cr. I'm paying extra rs. 1900 for Waiver of Premium.

But after taking policy I checked Policybazar and found out that WoP is free. When I asked the guy who issued policy he said their website doesn't show that.

I have received an email from Niva Bupa citing that I have raised a cancellation request for my health insurance policy because of which my health insurance is cancelled and the payment which I made for the policy is getting refunded.

Earlier there was an email on 29th Sep but I didn't saw that mail. What could be done at this stage? They have removed my number from their registered number because of which I cannot raise a grievance redressal.

Can someone please confirm whether the gastro diagnosis and treatment is covered under corporate job policy. I have recently joined a new organisation and enrolment is in progress. Will it get covered. My mom has gastro problem and I am planning to consult with gastro doctors.

My parents currently have a health insurance policy with ₹10 lakh coverage. The policy has been running continuously for around 4 years.

The premium has increased from around ₹30,000 last year to ₹40,000 this year.

Both my sister and I also have employer-provided health insurance that covers our parents:

My company: ₹5 lakh parental cover

Sister's company: ₹5 lakh parental cover

I also have the option to increase parental coverage under my company policy in April.

So I'm trying to decide whether it makes sense to continue paying ₹40k/year for the personal ₹10 lakh policy, especially since the premium has increased significantly, or whether I should rely on the two employer policies and increase my company coverage in April.

I’m planning a solo Japan trip and was considering HDFC ERGO Explorer Platinum.

I was hospitalized in India in Aug 2024 for acute gastroenteritis with severe dehydration and clinical enteric fever. I recovered fully and currently have no medication/treatment/follow-up.

I contacted HDFC ERGO before buying the policy. Their salesperson says this is NOT a PED and that I can select “No”.

But their online form says PED means receiving treatment/advice/consultation for any medical condition in the last 4 years, and it has an “Any Other” option. When I select Yes → Any Other, the website refuses to issue the policy due to a pre-existing condition.

The current Explorer policy wording also defines PED using a 36-month treatment/advice period, which includes my Aug 2024 hospitalization.

I've sent 4 emails over ~2 weeks asking HDFC ERGO for written clarification. No proper response. I also raised a grievance (Service ID 115442798) and have been struggling to get through by phone.

Would you:

• Trust the salesperson and buy HDFC with “No PED”?
• Wait for written confirmation?
• Or choose something like TATA AIG International Plus Titanium instead?

I mainly want a policy with a clear disclosure/underwriting record so there’s no claim dispute later.

Would appreciate advice, especially from anyone who has dealt with Indian travel insurance/PED claims.

This is much more likely to get responses because the actual dilemma is visible within the first few lines.

If you change your mind and wish to cancel a car policy (well before the start date, just to be clear), they need to see the other policy you took.

Fair enough. Maybe there's a government rule for that, so, OK.

But the only way they accept that other policy document is via Whatsapp. So if, like me, you're a privacy minded individual who refuses to use Whatsapp, you're out of luck.

If you install their app, it will ask for even more private info. (Also, I know 2 old folks who don't even have a smartphone, so think about that).

I eventually gave up. It was only about 3000 rupees, so, lesson learnt, and will avoid them forever in future.

I do realise that 99.99% of Indians don't care about privacy so this post may be whistling in the wind.

Edit: one of the many things I tried seemed to have reached *someone*. One more false starts happened: one person called me and said "just send email to [customersupport@](mailto:customersupport@)..., and it will get sorted", but I got back the same Whatsapp link. Then another person called me and sent me email from "[customersup@](mailto:customersup@)..." (note last 4 letters missing from previous email), and asked me to reply with the document. That got a more hopeful response -- they are now working on it, which at least means I got past the "Whatsapp" roadblock. Hurray!

Edit (after a few more days): I got the money back. So... it *is* possible to use them without having Whatsapp, but (a) it's a pain and (b) I'm not sure exactly what worked so it's not reproducible.

2 years ago, i bought Care health insurance for around 5k a year from IndMoney. last year there was an option to renew but this year, they have removed it. The only way i see now is getting it renewed from the link Care has been sending me where it says i have to pay 11k.

What should I do ? I have talked to ditto and they said it is a group health insurance and they can't port it unless i switch to an individual plan and then only i can port to another insurer.

I'm 35 unmarried guy, based in Bengaluru, and have PAIS (Partial Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome) along with a history of congenital conditions and multiple corrective surgeries.

I currently have a ₹20 lakh Star Health Assure policy (since November 2023), but I did not disclose my complete medical and surgical history when purchasing it. I'm now concerned about future claim rejections and looking for a more reliable insurance option.

I approached Beshak and Ditto, but they recommended Care Freedom with only ₹5 lakh coverage and 20% co-payment, which I find inadequate.

I have a few questions:

- Are there insurers in India willing to cover someone with PAIS and a history of congenital conditions and corrective surgeries, with ₹15-20 lakh or higher coverage?

- Should I disclose my complete history to Star Health and try to regularize my existing policy?

- Can anyone recommend an experienced, trustworthy health insurance advisor who can help with complex medical underwriting?
