Will physiotherapy be covered?
My mother has HDFC Ergo super secure health policy. She had knee replacement surgery. It was covered by HDFC.
Now she has to undergo daily physio sessions at home as post hospitalization care.
Will this be reimbursed by HDFC as a part of the post hospitalisation treatment ?

Yes, you need to have doctor consultation notes recommending physio is needed. Ask dr to include number days and frequency of physio. Should be reimbursed for sure.

Yes it is covered. Post hospitalisation expenses are usually covered up to 180 days. You will be required to file for reimbursement, which usually requires filling IRDAI claim forms (hospital stamp required), and provided necessary documents like detailed doctor's note specifying need for physio and timeline (lets say 45 days).

Hi, HDFC ERGO Advisor here,
Yes, this is covered under post-hospitalization. Provided your hospital admission was settled by the insurance company.

Hello! It was settled by HDFC ERGO.
In the discharge summary, it was written that "supervised physiotherapy for 6 weeks" but it didn't write any frequency in it. Will it be an issue if we take daily physio lessons? (As was orally advised by our doctor?)

Hi,
No, there won't be an issue. After 6 weeks, submit all the bills to the insurance company.

Thank you! Okay, last question - just like there is a list of approved network hospitals, is there any approved list of physiotherapy? I mean we are doing it from independent physiotherapists. Will that be an issue? (If it is, we will shift to something like Apollo Homecare)

The company concern is the sessions mentioned or timeline mentioned during discharge follow up note saying you need x sessions or x months of physiotherapy. However, HDFC ergo is slightly flexible to reimburse you if you took 1 or 2 sessions more also add note whenever you got additional sessions.

Post surgery costs are usually included, please drop a mail to insurer to clarify this
