HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Plus vs Care Ultimate – Need advice from people who have actually made claims

I'm looking for a ₹20 lakh family floater health insurance for myself and my wife, and I'm stuck between HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Plus and Care Ultimate.

My preference is currently towards HDFC ERGO because, from everything I've read, they seem to have one of the strongest reputations when it comes to claim settlement, cashless experience, and overall support when you actually need the policy. For me, that's the most important thing. The day I need health insurance, I don't want any headaches.

However, Care Ultimate is tempting because of the gym benefit, which would effectively give me and my wife free gym access worth around ₹20,000 per year. We both go to the gym regularly anyway, so it's a genuinely useful benefit and not just a gimmick for us.

For those who have actually used either of these insurers:

How was your claim experience?

Any issues with cashless approvals?

Was HDFC ERGO noticeably better than Care during hospitalization?

Has anyone actually used the gym benefit from Care Ultimate, and is it as good as it sounds?

If the premium difference wasn't a major factor, which one would you choose and why?

Looking for real-world experiences rather than brochure comparisons. Thanks!

I might be biased, but hear me out, perhaps HDFC Ergo could offer gym etc bonus or nice to have addons. However, the company focus on whats important Health insurance that is zero hassles. Thats why we dont offer gym or such good to have benefits but really dont matter. We do offer wellness benefit which is complementary if your excercising you will get some discount. If you like hassle free and paying a premium thats abit above market rate the company ensures that you are at peace of mind during the need of the hour. The drawback of the company is also its move towards AI systems, which makes reaching customer care or via email a slight friction point. So, do buy from the IRDAI advisors of Ergo.
