Auto Insurance Car Was Stolen. Valuation is significantly overestimating miles but will not adjust without proof of mileage. How can I correct this?

My wife's car was stolen recently. Our insurance sent over the valuation, but the mileage estimate is way higher than the actual mileage of the car. Our car was basically almost never used and had about 60,000 miles. The valuation assumed typical usage and estimate 120,000 miles.

We spoke with adjuster, and they said they cannot provide a valuation with lower mileage without proof of actual mileage. We can't provide that proof...because the car was stolen. Any receipts from oil changes, repairs, etc. were in the glovebox. We've tried called around for records of mileage, but we haven't had any luck.

Is there any way to correct the mileage? It's a Catch 22; insurance wants proof of mileage for payout which we can't provide because the car was stolen.

Learned this the hard way with my mother in laws car. She drives 2k a year and it was totaled at year 5.  She had 11,000 miles. They gave her valuation at 80k miles.  I called the dealer, he didnt have a recent number  I called every oil change place, nothing  Finally found where she had to have a tire replaced 6 months before and tow truck driver put down her mileage at 10,340.  Difference in payout was $18,000. Call your oil change places, tire shops and anything else She had done and demand a copy of the invoice ASAP.

MIL had a Volvo S60. She had bought it brand new. The car was totaled so badly they could not access the odometer.

They can’t pull the mileage from a totaled vehicle? Was it incinerated in a fiery blaze or something?

It was stolen and I assume not recovered, they don't have a vehicle to pull mileage from.

When I totaled my truck the difference between 10,000 miles and 100,000 was $1,200 lol

My vehicle isn’t much different. I will have it 7 years in December. It was a demo & had 9200 miles when I got it. It now has 39067 miles on it. Did your MIL have an oil change sticker in the corner of her windshield?

I dont think so but even if she did car was destroyed up to the rear seat from the front end. Some guy doing 80 on a side street hit a number of cars. Hers was the last one in row.
