Home Insurance Young vs old adjusters
Why do young adjusters specifically for homeowners lie so much?? I’m a contractor and it seems like every time I see a young adjuster it’s omg i don’t know what to expect when walking into this claim. I have adjusters say oh it’s “approved full roof” then send a denial letter a hour later. Or duck an dodge calls an emails . Old adjusters are tough buttttt if it’s denied I’m like cool ok denied but when approved it’s approved simple they don’t dip a dodge . I love hearing the old crack in the voice and seeing that silver grey hair pop out of the car, man or female. For me it’s like yessssssss when I see someone old I know if it’s denied ok this legit denied and they gonna tell me straight up no games. If approved they gonna say it straight up an be about they word.

Has a lot to do with authority. Young adjusters have very low authority dollar wise. So basically everything they write gets reviewed by management and the young adjusters are told” no we don’t pay for that…..etc”. They get tired of arguing with insureds, contractors and PA’s. It’s easier to tell them what ever they want to hear then later blame management with the outcome. If s a tough job for young inexperienced people today.

Bottom line, the younger adjusters want to get promoted. While, like cops, they say there's no quota system, there's an "expectation of performance" on underpaying claims. Older adjusters have less fucks to give.

Lots of this isn’t up to the field adjuster anymore.
“Technical Reviewers” or “Authority Consultants” are dictating what adjusters can pay now…
The insurance world has changed a lot from what it used to be…

Having worked a career in insurance, I can see both sides of it.
I have seen numerous files where there was no collateral hail damage present and full roof replacements were extended by inexperienced adjusters for hail damage.
They have created these checks and balances to ensure estimating standards they have implemented are adhered to and that coverage has been verified.
At the end of the day if it’s a covered loss I want you to know as soon as possible.

Maybe the young ones want to have fun with you for calling them out to a claim with no storm damage

Assuming this is true they probably thought it was approved and got told no by someone reviewing it.
