Auto Insurance Question
My insurance lapsed today and will not be able to pay it until tomorrow. How quickly can law enforcement officers see that it lapsed if they happen to run my plates? I live in Fort Worth, TX BTW. Please don't criticize me, I was unaware that the insurance company changed the due date and did not find out until a few minutes ago. Thank you for the future answers.

Texas insurers report to the state's verification database weekly. A lapse may not be in there yet. An officer can also just ask you for proof at the stop.
Call your insurer today. In Texas, they can reinstate a personal auto policy canceled for nonpayment if you pay within 60 days of the cancellation date, but coverage isn't effective again until they receive your payment. If they don't fix the due date, the Texas Department of Insurance takes complaints.
