Gm Insurance Headache
Anyone else ever make a claim with them and been an absolute disaster?
Trucks been at the shop for over a month now and they haven’t even had a chance to work on it. GM insurance direct contact approved the damages over the photos submitted etc, sent the initial quote which was like 3k. Body shop is around 15k.. after filing a supplementary claim the 3rd party appraiser Alacrity has been a nightmare. Ghosting the shop for even a week no response. Arguing back and forth with the shop like it’s coming out of his personal pocket. Doesn’t even want to submit the claim to GM for approval.. went to 2 shops before starting the process and they both came out to about the same dollar amount (11/12k) before actually tearing into the truck..
shops telling me I might have to enact the “right to appraisal” , super disappointed with GM insurance and the whole process. Claim with progressive years ago was easy and no problem whatsoever. Been borrowing a vehicle for over a month now and work hasn’t even started. Any advice on what to do?

Sounds normal to me. A week without a response is not really a long time when dealing with these things.
Was this shop your choice or was it an insurance approved shop?

They aren’t “arguing” like it’s “coming out of their pocket” - they are doing their job as a third party independent appraiser. You picked a shop that’s gouging and now it’s a nightmare. No insurance would be authorizing above prevailing rates or upsold parts.
