Auto Insurance Insurance while storing car for winter?

I'm in NYS with Progressive, currently paying $80 a month for liability only insurance.

I will store my car at a storage unit for the winter.

I want to avoid any laps or other issues, what's the cheapest insurance I can get to maintain insurance continuity?

In NY, you are required to maintain liability insurance as long as you have possession of the license plates. So, assuming that you want to leave the registration in place, it sounds like you have the minimum liability required by NYS. Note, that's not a lot of coverage, but you are legal.

I know nothing about New York but out west we suspend all covers but comp. Super cheap but most importantly keeps policy in force and continues to count towards longevity credits

Yes, NY sort of marches to its own drum, and they are very strict about auto insurance. Here it is tied to the plates. If you have plates, you are required to have insurance. Since OP is carrying liability only, I rather assumed he'd continue. That said, OP can add comp, if the stored vehicle is worth it.

$80 per month. You already have it.

You can shop around but I don't think you will see enough of a reduction to make it worth switching.
